    not at all good

The mussels arrived cold with sauce glopped on top, the frites boring and the sauce was plain Miracle Whip without seasoning. Decent beer selection and the service was quite good, but will never return.

    Service

I have never seen such a service, and the managment was only a little better. We waited for a very, very long time. It was such a terrible experience service-wise, that was the only memorable part of the entire experience.

    May be bad night?

We have family in Belgium and go there at least once a year. So we know good Belgian food! In the last years many Belgian places had open around town and many of th are really good (Resto, Markt) Well bxl cafe is not one of them. We came many times for drinks and they do have a nice beer list but we had the experience of dining there last night and we couldn't even eat our food. It was just not fresh and poorly prepared (unedible). The place looks more like a sport bar and the staff is loud (screaming like crazy teenagers) and unprofessional (did you pick them out from some tourist bus in Times Sq?). I bet the king of Belgium is very disappointed!

    Great find!

Looking for good brunch in touristy Times Square and found it at BXL. Yummy omelette and banana pancakes fit the bill. Will definitely come back as it is a very "unchain-like" cozy place to get good food and drink in the theatre district. (Not overpriced either which is a definite plus.)

    Fair

Was relly looking forward to the moules/frites here - they were only fair - frites tasted like they were previously frozen - not enough sauce with the moules and they were stingy with the bread - I think the reason for all of the great reviews is that the beer selection is so excellent - a few of those high octane beers and anything would taste outstanding. Atmosphere is nice too so if you don't go with high expectations you can have an okay meal in a fun place with great beer.

    Awesome!

This willbe my next destination first when I come to the city again, being only 2 hrs away that should be more often! The beer sampler was killer, the steak hamburger on a baguette with frittes was out of this world and my partner got the pomp a due, he said it was out of this world! A+ no compliants

    New favorite place!

I went with a friend before the PeeWee Herman show and loved everything. The truffled mushroom croquettes - hearty enough to split with someone. The Grand Mere mussles were so good we could not stop. Definitely my new favorite place near times square. Try the BXL Cuvee beer; good for all types of beer drinkers.
