Great cupcakes!
My girlfriend and i came here once for desserts. You'll have a hard time choosing and sometimes they're out of the cupcakes you want so thats a downer. The price is a bit high but worth it when you taste the cupcakes. They're packed with flavor so the 2 cupcakes we picked up were more than enough for the 2 of us.

Excellent!
Probably the best cupcakes I've had. Try the Red Velvet -- the cream cheese frosting is amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

Dry Cupcakes
My boyfriend and I wanted to splurge on some calories...so we went to the Buttercup Bake Shop. It was cute and cozy inside and the people were very nice. However, we were disappointed with the cupcakes. When you want a cupcake, you want the cake moist and the frosting creamy, right? Well, good luck getting it here. The only redeeming dessert we feasted on was a rice crispie treat. Those are pretty hard to screw up! We didn't try the cake...maybe they're good at cake. These cupcakes were like the stumps from Seinfeld's Top of the Muffin.

Good & Bad
Service with a poor attitude, as if the cutomer is a burden. However the cupcake & German chocolate cake were outstanding. If you could teach the staff to take as much pride in their work as the owner has taken in the baked goods, then the bakery would be worth another visit.

Overrated
I love cupcakes and visited Buttercup during a recent visit to New York in hopes of finding the superb cupcake that some have claimed it to be. I was unimpressed. The cake is simultaneously dry and too dense/heavy, while the buttercream is fine but not unusually so. Any good bakery in the country can do as well (as can I by baking my own). What Buttercup has going for it is hype.

Yummy
I think these are the best cupcakes I've ever had. The frosting is to die for. My fav is the vanilla. I think if you in the neighborhood you should definitely stop in for a treat.

My Favorite
I'm not gonna lie- buttercup bake shop is flat out the best there is. The cupcakes are moist and delectable. I eat them everyday on my way home (i live about two blocks away). Sometimes i even eat two. The frosting is sweet and creamy and the cake is moist and comforting. I dont think i could live without these heavenly cupcakes. Get the white cake with pink frosting! I dont know what the other reviewers are talking about.
