not great
I ordered 24 cupcakes in advance for my daughter's birthday this Saturday. Being from Jersey we could not buy just once for a taste test. My girls had their party in the city. I must say I was very disappointed. I read the reviews before ordering. I went by the good reviews not the bad ones. I ordered yellow and chocolate butter cream icing cupcakes. The yellow cake tasted more like a corn cake than a normal cupcake. I also felt the cupcake was too dense and dry. They did not seem fresh. The icing was way too sweet. I can't comment on the chocolate cupcakes as I did not try them. I could not finish the one vanilla cupcake I tired. The children were not fans of the cupcakes either. Ranging from 5 - 13 in age. We all know children love sweets and cakes. If they were not satisfied, that tells you a lot. No more Buttercup Bake Shop for me. I do not recommend anyone buy cupcakes from this bakery.

How about a grown up dessert?
What is the big deal with cupcakesnostalgia for childhood or something? Buttercup has a lot besides cupcakes, and their actual full size cakes are deliciousand never dry. They also have delicious individual cheesecakes, pies, muffins, etc., so I'd suggest that the reviewers who have never tried anything but cupcakes should broaden their horizons.

Too dry...
I think the cupcakes here are too dry for my liking. The frosting is very similar to Magnolia's, and is a nice contrast to how dry the cake is, but the cake itself is just too dry, even with the icing. These cupcakes are not worth the calories.

Dry Cupcakes? What? Best Cupcake Ever
Buttercup has the best cupcakes of all time. I don't understand what all these reviews are talking about... dry cupcakes?? I've never experienced that. Best ever is the vanilla cupcake with pink frosting. They say all frosting is the same, but I don't know, the pink is a little more special.

Not recommended during the Winter
I would recommend not wasting your money on Buttercup cupcakes until they are not using their heater. The last two times I visited Buttercup, which is three blocks away, every cupcake has been too dry to enjoy, even with milk. It is such a shame, since it was my favorite place to stop on my way home. I mentioned something to a girl icing the cupcakes and she thought it was because they put all the cupcakes in the back, next to the heater, to cool after they are taken out of the oven.

YUMMMM!!!!!!
I love the cupcakes here!! I get cupcakes here at least once a week for and only a handful of times thay haven't been fresh & it's usually maybe 2 -3 in the bacth. Red Velvet & Lady Baltimore are my faves. The staff could use a serious attitude adjustment though!!!

Terrific Cupcakes - Poor Service
The cupcakes are good, plus there is more variety, and less of a line-up. Also they have the best coffee. But do beware I find the service leaves something to be desired, its almost like they are doing me a favour by selling me a cupcake.
