Small Cupcakes
Size is smaller, price is up, Why. Don't say it's to fit the new box seperators!

nice shop, not cake
I don't have high hopes for many cupcake shops. I'm not one of those people who likes really sugary frosting or anything too sweet or decadent. As a result I don't like Magnolia or Crumbs. I tried this cute little shop where everything looked really pretty and the staff were all friendly. However as mentioned in other reviews, the cake is always super dry. I love red velvet, but theirs lacked any cocoa flavor and was dyed an obscene and unnatural shade of red. (not into a ton of dye, either.) The frosting is also flavorless for the most part except for the taste of pure sugar. If you want a flavorful moist cake without a ton of sugar in New York, the only place I've found is Amy's Bread. (FAB red velvet!)

Extremely Disappointing!
The cake was extremely dry, thick and had no flavor. The frosting was too thick and again had no flavor. My friend and I bought 5 cupcakes and brought them back to our hotel. We each took two bites of our cupcakes and threw them away, plus the others that we bought. I seriously wanted to call up Buttercup and tell them shame on them for selling these cupcakes! I will never go back there. Even a Walmart cupcake is better than Buttercup.

Good Bakery in the Neighbourhood :)
Be impressed by: 1) The Lemon Cake is very good -- just take off 2/3 of the frosting because it's way too sweet for us. 2) Chocolate Sour Cream Cake -- this one is right on the money with texture and taste and surprisingly, not too sweet! :) My favourite cake in the shop! 3) Banana Pudding. To be frank, they don't have the best cupcakes, but it's still better than Crumbs or Magnolia in our opinion. We've never had bad service and we come here often in the evenings because the shop is in our neighbourhood! Seating is very limited, though!

... Dry
I live right near here, so one night I wanted to get a cupcake. I got one, and they look so good from the window. I was really excited, then immediatly disappointed. It was dry and too sweet (and I like really sweet things). Now I have to make a trip to crumbs for cupcakes : (

best banana pudding
i've tried many cupcakes in this city and so far, these are the best, or near the top (depending on flavor). The red velvet is my favorite and the banana pudding is delicious. I haven't tried one that is 'dry' so maybe it was a bad batch or I've just been lucky. Magnolia chocolate cupcakes are much more dry than any I've had here. These are fantastic and my go to!

Overrated
The cupcakes really aren't that great. They are typically dry and the frosting is way too sweet, as if they don't even take the measure of tasting the batch after they've whipped it up. The vanilla frosting on the red velvet was disappointing, the taste did not flow.
