coffee to expensive
I paid $2.75 for a small latte, would have got more from Starbucks. The bun was slightly dry, but it tasted ok. Free wifi was the main reason for going in, and it worked! May return again but likely to look else where next time.

Best red velvet cupcake in NYC
When you walk in your nose is immediately filled with the most delicious scent of frosting and cake. The red velvet is my all time favorite. The cream cheese frosting compliments the deep red velvet cupcake so perfectly. Before you know it, your cupcake is all gone, leaving you begging for more.

Disappointed
I had heard of the place and of how good the cupcakes were so I decided to get my friend a birthday cake from there. I got a chocolate cake with chocolate. They staff was friendly enough to add a message in frosting on the cake, it looked really pretty, appetizing even, but the cake was a disappointment, tasted stale and was hard. Maybe at some point their cakes were good, or maybe I was the one who got the bad cake, but it was enough to drive me away from Buttercup Bake Shop.

Banana Pudding
I have to say that they have one of the best banana puddings I have ever tried. They also have a chocolate pudding with like cookie crumbs (don't know the name) that is also very good.

subpar
Coming from LA and being using to excellent cupcakes from Sprinkles, this cupcake place rates below. The cupcakes tasted like they were a week old, the decor (especially the window) was tacky and the people who worked there were unfriendly and never wore gloves when making the cupcakes. And the coffeee was dreadful. I broke my own rule of never throwing away food or beverage but I had to just toss the cupcake and coffee in the trash bin outside. All the good reviews I read were from 2008.

Dry cupcakes
This place is so cute, but I found the cupcakes to be inedible. Even though the cupcake looked fresh, it was so dry I, a true sweet tooth, could not even stomach it. I wish they would improve their cupcakes. I walk by there often and love cupcakes. They really need some quality control.
