More chocolate please.......
When you first walk in you can't help but notice how beautiful and unique looking this restaurant is. I had 8:30 reservations and was seated right away. The staff is very friendly and are very attentative. For dinner I had the calamari, snapper special and my girlfriend had the trout and butternut squash soup, all dishes were excellent. For dessert I had the black forrest cake which was very rich and prepaired nicely, but what I really enjoyed were the home made chocolate that the waitress brought over with the check. The chocolate melted in my mouth... After dinner we went downstairs which is equally as beautiful as upstairs but totally different looking. Cool tunes are played since the downstairs level serves as a lounge and dining area. Overall this was a great dining experience and would def come back to butter.

Now that's what I'm talking about
Why are there not more restaurants like this? Well thought out food, served with no pretention, and a fantastic wine list to boot!

Exceeded expectations
Went to Butter during NY Restaurant Week, despite lukewarm reviews on the site. Was pleasantly surprised by the food and service - much better than expected! We had beet salad and goat cheese salad (OK) and butternut soup (great!) to start, grouper and duck for entrees (both excellent) and passion fruit flan (delicious) / apple crisp pie (only average) for dessert. The waiter was caring and helpful - we never felt snubbed, even though Restaurant Week service in other restaurants generally comes with an attitutde. They seated us downstairs but if you get to choose your table, the top floor seemed more 'happening'. 20% service was already built into the check which we appreciated - dinner came to roughly $70pp. Would recommend this restaurant to others.

Decent
To start off, let me say how gorgeous the interior of the restaurant is. There are two levels & my friend & I ate downstairs. Very spacious and we had a huge table to ourselves. The service was a little slow and the waitress was not that friendly..semi-pretentious. As an appetizer I had the salmon tartare which was DELICIOUS. Best I've ever had, but my entree which was the snapper wasn't that delicious..too salty.

Don't waste your time or money
Atmosphere was mediocre, service was good, food was a waste of taste buds. The appetizer shrimp with Kale had a very weird combination of flavors, the beet salad was all wrong, the texture of the cheese it's served with is way too soft. Things of that combination should compliment one another. The trout was tasteless, and the pork chop was served to be cut with a butter knife....come on people! Desert was a waste of calories. I'm normally an optimist when it comes to food and always find something I DO like, not so much in this case. The poor bus boy was trying to make some entertaining conversation with my girlfriends and I, the minute he steps away he gets yelled at by one of the waiters for talking to us.

Not tasty
It was not tasty. Atmosphere is very nice and the service is good. But they really missed with the food, which is kinda why we went there⦠Very disappointing to pay 80$ for such a subpar culinary experience.
