Food during restaurant week - a nice assortment of dishes that did not disappoint. The beef short rib was incredible. The lime tart was so-so (prepackaged and thawed). Service was spotty - the waiter couldn't remember what course we were on (twice) and we had to ask twice for one of our desserts. But, the atmosphere was great, the music great, the food (once we got it) was great. I would definitely return after restaurant week was over (I think the service reflected the smaller tip the waiters were getting).

Warm yet unobtrusive service from our server and other wait-staff made this a lovely meal for a relaxed luncheon. For a NYC Restaurant Week meal, we never felt rushed or that we received less in service or attention to detail. The food was delicious and arrived in excellent time for the whole table.

We waited 2 hours for our meals, received no attention from the waitress, and asked for our steak well done but it came out rare. We were told that the steak would be comped and we would receive a free round of drinks on the house. But an hour and a half later when the bill finally arrived, all items were included at full price. The whole time we saw tables who were seated after us receive their food before we did. The wait staff was miserable and the manager threw our bill at us when we questioned it! Unprofessional and unacceptable. Kudos to the chef, but I recommend he looks for a job elsewhere because this establishment will surely go under soon with that kind of service (or should I say lack thereof).

This place is a bit pricey but worth every penny! I don't know how people could give it bad reviews. I have been there twice and cannot stop raving about this place! The service is great and the food is amazing!!

I came on this site prior to taking my husband out for his birthday. A friend of mine recommended this place to me, and I wanted to see what others were saying. To my disappointment most people had nothing but negative things to say, I almost changed my mind. I checked out a few other restaurants and what would you know....the same old negative things as well - probably the same people. So I decided to ignore it all and I went to Butter. This place is fabulous...decor...atmosphere...everything. Yes the food is not cheap, but hello...this is Manhattan. For 4 drinks, entree, dessert, 20[%] gratuity the tab was $145. I am not rich by any means but I do not think that is "expensive". The service was perfect...no complaints here AT ALL. I went on a Saturday night around 8:30 (the place was full) There are a lot of bitter people out there and if you pay attention to them, you will end up staying home and not leave your house. These are the same people who complain about everything whether they go out to eat or go on vacation. People lighten up. You complain too much ! Butter was the bomb ! Go and enjoy!

My friend and I came here for restaurant week and we totally loved it. The waiter was very friendly, and the service was good. We both ordered the salmon and it was the best i've ever had. The lobster bisque was also very good. Def. recommend this place

I guess the waiters are only nice to the celebrities that come in.They were not very good to me and my friends!
