Nice space but the food was overpriced and really average. Might have been a bad day but our waiter was also seemed a little uninterested. The 'executive chef' is a regular on TV and I know has been here for a while but think the menu could do with an overhaul to be honest....NYC has much better to offer than this place.

Finally got to go to Butter to see what Alex Ghurnascelli was really made of, as she is so critical on TV. Honestly, with the exception of delicious raspberry beignets, the meal was a total bust. In addition to pretty much none of the food being very good, the entree took 45 minutes from when we completed our appetizers. We got grilled Octopus for our appetizers and these were brutally overcooked, and though I love octopus, hard to eat. For entrees my fix was tasteless, and my wife's past was mediocre at best. I would have expected much much better from Alex, and honestly, she would have been appalled by our disinterested waiter.

I had ordered the Lamb Shanks & some Brown rice would hv made the meal "Perfect". To only offer Endive And Bacon Gratin, Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Sauteed Brussels Sprouts, or Smashed Purple Majesty Potatoes just isn't good enough

Food was great and our server was awesome. The atmosphere upstairs is def brighter and more chill than downstairs. Overall the meal was great. Yum!

You could barely have a conversation downstairs without having to scream to be heard because the music was so loud. This is excusable though if you know what you're getting into. The upstairs is far more conducive for intimate conversation. The decor was certainly nice. And thats the best I could say about Butter. The portions were laughable, which is to be expected at high end restaurants, but the food was lackluster, which is not excusable for what you're paying. I mean, the chicken was dry. How do you mess up chicken? In addition, our waitress was mediocre. Overall a very blah experience. Washed up like the celebrities that used to come here.

I suppose people who use words like "whatever" think they are above it all. Not so! I fly above all that drama - it's beneath me. I will admit that I went to Butter, which my Cockney boyfriend calls "Buh-UH" specifically to see celebs. Where was Ashton? Or Miley? I did love the drinks and food however. I can see why the stars go! Or do they?

if you're dining at a restaurant specifically to spot celebrities, dare i suggest: you should just stay home and watch TMZ or read gossip columns.
