Tried the new Butter in Midtown and it was great. The space is beautiful and is a nice upgrade from their downtown. Though not to be eaten everyday, I'm a fan of Chef Guarnaschelli's food. Had a lovely evening with good service and a hip crowd.

Huge disappointment. Been to several other iron Chef restaurants, but Butter was just not up to par. Overpriced because of the iron Chef name, but food was not original nor tasty. I had brought my entire family there and we were all disappointed. Service and ambiance was good. Unfortunately, because of the lackluster taste, we won't be coming back and would not recommend this place for people who are expecting excellent iron chef quality food.

I visited Butter two nights ago for Restaurant Week with my aunt and cousin. OMG! The food was just amazing! I ordered the pasta with spicy lamb sausage, short ribs, and chocolate ice cream cake with caramelized almonds. My aunt ordered the mussels, my cousin ordered the salad, and they both ordered the salmon for their entree and strawberry sorbet for dessert. The food was truly delicious. Every time we finished one course, we were upset because we wanted more. But not "more" in a way of the food being skimpy. But "more" in that we just wanted more because it was so good. I am definitely coming back to Butter for some more amazing cuisine!

I went here for my birthday and while the quality of the food was excellent, for the amount you get on your plate the menu is obnoxiously overpriced. The $22 foie gras appetizer took up all of 2 square inches on my plate, and at $11 per bite it should have been the best thing I've ever had, and it wasn't. The "rack" of lamb consisted of two skimpy lamb chops that tasted great, but were gone in under 2 minutes along with some very average, undercooked root vegetables. In short, I left the place still starving and paying $150 per person. My girlfriend then went again for a friend's birthday, and they were laughing hysterically when the waiter brought them a 1x1 square inch piece of birthday cake that was almost overwhelmed by a single birthday candle. You can do much better elsewhere for all the hype this place has, I won't be back.

This was something we both had been looking forward to - and it was evertyhing we could have hoped for. The food was outstanding - the pace of the meal relaxing. The service was top notch. We travel and have our share of good/great meals - this was in our top 5 ever. My duck was the very best, his lamb was to die for. The very best of all was the Cavatappi Pasta With Spicy Lamb Sausage, I could have eaten this and been fully content.

Thought it would be a nice experience to bring foodies from Los Angeles, not. We were seated in a very nice booth, our waitress was lovely and accommodating. However, after the appetizers came, we waited almost an hour for our entrees. She kept saying our dinner was just about to come out. We had to go speak to the general manager of the restaurant. Needless to say we were embarrassed for taking our guests to this restaurant. However, I must say they were very apologetic and did make up for it with wine and dessert. The excuse was too many tasting menu orders from the kitchen. Thought the food was fair and did not get your monies worth. Not again!

After looking forward to Butter, were not prepared for non-quality of our dinner. Arugula salad with smoked almonds - too smoked. Scallop entree totally over-salted and seasoned. Could not get taste out. White mousse dessert not specified as frozen with overly buttered brioche. After seeing Alex so much on TV and expecting the food to have her light hand,we were not happy campers. Our expectations were high but alas......... So what happened?
