Walk right past this restaurant...
We walked by this restaurant and thought the decor was interesting although the tables were empty. We decided to try take out. What a mistake. The portions were tiny and it was the most expensive take out we've ordered in 8 years in Manhattan. As for the food, the grilled skewers were cold, the kalbi was so fatty and tough that we couldnt chew it. The sushi was okay but we've had much better. I would recommend walking right past this restaurant.

Know what you're getting into
I'm from Japan, and let me say that the food is pretty authentic and i definately enjoyed every bite coz it reminded me of home...BUT having said that it is also very pricey. We had a three hour dinner, japanese style, drinking and eating little by little. The portions are similar to portions you find in Japan rather than in America, so you are supposed to order a various items for the table, share the food and take your time while eating enjoying a few beers. So don't get shocked at the end when your bill is high. You're paying for the experience. So if you're can spend the cash its worth your time.

What a Find!
I found this little gem on menu pages 2 months ago and have been back several times. I was looking for something that wasn't too expensive and could bring my friends to while they were visiting. It is So cute inside and the waitresses/waiters are very nice. The food was good and so are the drinks. The hot bartender is a big flirt too, which I love. ;) Definitely recommend.

Disappointed
I came here with some friends and we all marveled at how nice the decor was and everything and our waitress was friendly as well. However, when we recieved our food, the portions were ridiculous. these were main course meals that were the size of appetizers. We all left hungry, we had to go and get some food from somewhere else afterwards.

Best sushi in the city
It may sound insane but I've been to Nobu, Koi, Sushi Samba, Blue Ribbon Sushi, and MORE...Butai tops the list. Coming from California, I have seen how different the fish is in NY and Butai some how has same fresh fish I used to get on the Pacific. Go if you can and I promise it won't disappoint.

Amazing and Chic
I simply love this restaurant. The decor is absolutely beautiful and the food is delicious. Everything is very fresh and excellently prepared. Try the jidori (dark meat grilled chicken)...it is to die for! Some of the best and most tender chicken I've ever had. And the short ribs too...so subtly flavorful. Great rolls and sushi as well. Great sake, very friendly service, a great place to take a party of friends, some business colleagues, or a date.
