Bus Stop Cafe

I've eaten here twice for breakfast and once for lunch - the omelett's are amazing and the waffle's are delicious too. The delivery took less than 10 mins! It's on a cut block on Hudson with outdoor seating....consistently good.

I never write reviews, but am hoping Bus Stop takes note. The man answering phones is consistently angry, curt, and irritated with anyone "bothering" him with a delivery order that it almost makes me want to hang up. Not to mention that when he speaks its near impossible to decipher his hurried and frustrated responses. Great spot, great food and speedy delivery -- but can someone else please take my order or can he lose the 'tude???

Very cozy atmosphere including candles on walls. Food presentation was excellent. Steak was tough however. My fault - I knew in the back of my mind sirloin was the toughest, but forgot until I started chewing. Ordered medium well, but received medium (not a big problem). Carrots were beautiful, but bland. They were a bit crunchy and seemingly undercooked. I wouldn't know how to make carrots taste delicious either so I can't hold it against them. Mushroom soup was excellent. Friend's club sandwich was missing bacon. Riesling was excellent, but no liquor, only beer and wine. Service was very nice. Would explore a different restaurant before going back.

The food is good diner fare. The atmosphere's a bit cramped. However, there is a really nice guy and a really nasty guy ... so when you call in an order cross your fingers that the really rude, nasty guy doesn't answer - you'll know in a second if it's him. But the other guy (owner?) could not be nicer!

... the rest is right. I have lived in the neighborhood for a few score years but started coming here fairly recently. Every visit has been a delight. I usually judge a restaurant among other ways by reflecting on the consistency of success between vastly different kinds of entrées. What can be more different than roast turkey with apple stuffing and rigatoni with salmon in alfredo sauce? Both are excellent as were my other meals here. The atmosphere is charming and the service is fine as well.

This little cafe/dinner is not pretencious, therefore most of the times they get it right. Let's say being a regular makes me comfortable with their menu and many times i bring, friends and family that just want to grab a bite. I do not usually post reviews about restorants, the solution is simple if you do not like it, the sure action to take is not to go back. Love this cozy little corner on the weekends, early before hell breaks lose and moms dads kids wake up, starving for some real food. For a while i have been ordering take out(who wants too cook after a stressful day at work on a Monday) and it amazes me the total disrespect of the person on the phone towards a coustomer. I can't seem to figure out if this man really thinks we have no other choices. The favor is mutual and I am paying for good service, recently I got so upset that i felt like sending the food back, at the end of the day they lost a coustomer and i, gain a lesson. Go sit there enjoy your food and take a table away from the loud people at the counter. This is 2009 a time where way many places are easy to find and eat.

I hole heartedly agree with the West Villager's comments in that the food here is great for what it is, the atmosphere is always pleasant but whomever is the person responsible for taking phone orders needs to learn a SERIOUS lesson in manners and service. He makes me never want to call in an order and leaves such bad taste in my mouth that I find it difficult to even dine in the restaurant. So unfortunate.
