    Pretty Darn Good

I've never been to Bukhara but have ordered from them twice. Really fantastic bukhara dal and the rest is better than average (I've tried a couple of Indian rest. in the area and they are downright awful). Good Deal in my opinion.

    Certain Dishes Still Great

I've been here several times. When Bukhara first opened the food was simply incredible, the kebabs and daal were first rate. Honestly speaking, the quality of the food over the past few years has suffered. Not sure why. Don't go to Bukhara for the vegetarian dishes, go for the huge kebab selection.

Nevermind bollocks: Best Indian in NYC!

At least there is general agreement that the food is superb. There's simply no denying that. Did you know that the White House had their Devali (Hindu holiday) celebration catered by Bukhara Grill? Yes! The White House in Washington ordered the food brought from NY to DC to serve the president and the prominent members of the Indian-American community at a White House dinner! Why? Because Bukhara Grill is home to the finest Indian food in America, that?s why. Best lamb chop on Earth is here ("Adrak Ki Chaamp")...best lentils in the world (Dal Bukhara). You will be amazed at what can be done with lentils! And the service is extremely sweet. Everyone is very pleasant and proper in every way. The owner-managers (who include the chef) are totally top-class and come to visit every table, always with a smile. I've been coming here regularly for four years and the food quality is unchanged: Spectacularly delicious. I told a visiting friend where we were going for dinner and he looked up the restaurant on the web and found some bad reviews: I was flabbergasted. After our meal at Bukhara Grill on Thursday night November 3, 2005 I can absolutely confirm that Bukhara Grill continues to serve the best Indian food in this country and that is no exaggeration. By the way - don't be confused by the name: "Bukhara" is a city in Uzbekistan - !But this is not a Central Asian restaurant at all: It is North Indian. It's called "Bukhara" simply because the founder of the original Bukhara Grill in New Delhi (the New York restaurant is a direct spin-off by the original staff) thought that the name "Bukhara" sounded exotic and exciting. That's the only reason it's called "Bukhara Grill."

    Best Indian in NYC

I've been here a number of times, it's a little on the expensive side, but so worth it. The range of flavors available on the creative menu is unbelievable. Go for the butter dal for sure - it's the best dal I've ever had (and I eat alot of Indian). All of the appetizers are tasty, and the chicken dishes are particularly good. A great place to go for a flavorful meal!

    Good food, poor service

The food is good, though not excellent. I am a big fan of Indian food, but only when it is cooked right. The service at this restaurant was poor. My wife and I went for the lunch buffet. We helped ourself from the buffet, and I order a bottle of domestic beer. They were flabbergasted to hear "domestic", since they carried only imports. Anyway, they get me a bottle of the beer I asked for after about 20 minutes. The bottleneck under the cap was dirty. I asked for a different bottle, and the waiter took it to the back room, wiped my dirty bottle with a rag and brought it back. I was so frustrated and angry at that point. Then I realized that the botte's "best before" date had passed about a year ago. That was the last straw. I paid for my wife's and my lunch (minus the beer) and walked away, with no tip.

    Not worth the expense

The food qulaity has gone down considerably from the first time I went here. Though some of there dishes are still good, but as mentioned by others you can get better value for your money. Do not go for the Buffet, it is simply subpar food.

    Good and expensive

I really enjoyed the food at Bukhara. It is definitely on the heavier side of the scale if ur a health freak, and hence so good. If you have not, try out the buffet which can be a better value...
