    Its nothing more

I think this restaurant is just ordinary indian dhaaba (which is a like a fast food kind of place in my language) but with ridicuolous prices.......they claim to have the best black lentil, which were NOT the best, as i know the best kaali daal(black lentil). Theres no taste, no ambiance, no style or presentation, the service is rushed and just mismanaged. I am really dissappointed, as we went with high expectations because of the name bukhara, as I have eaten at the origianl bukhara in delhi (India). I cant recommend this place.

Fantastic for all - No rushing though

This was my second time for dinner and it was a GREAT decision. The food is AWESOME - try the paneer tikka as well as the malai chicken. The main course lamb was not too good so avoid it. We ordered vegetable biryani rice which was favorful and fresh. When ordering bread, don't go for the "bread basket" (they don't stay too warm upon arrival). Instead, order each bread separately. The portions are quite large so plan on "family style" sharing. Four of us ate dinner with dessert and some drinks - per person was $50. The only drawback is the service is slow. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes for any appetizers and another 15 or so minutes for the main course. BUT the food is worth the wait -- just make sure you are not in a rush or let them know in ADVANCE that you need to be out by a certain time. Enjoy the BUKHARA GRILL experience. I know we did.

    Hands down my favorite...

...and not only for Indian cuisine, but in general. Great atmosphere, very attentive service, and the food is beyond good. I've only been to the 49th Street location (it's close to where I live) and I've taken everyone I know at least once (most - with the exception of a few people who live abroad and only visited NY once - return after that one time). I have never - not even once - been in any way disappointed. A few words need to be said about the owner, who is very attentive to his clientele and is there every night - at least every night I've ever been, and I go there quite often - and is genuinely interested to hear from his guests. I would imagine he hears mostly compliments. To make it short - don't take my (or anyone else's) word for it, just GO. I'm sure you'll end up going again and again.

    The best there is

Bukhara grill is deff the best indian restraunt in NYC. Everything is perfect about this place. The decor, food, staff. I love the famous Dhal Bukhara, and chicken makhni. I love eating here. they recently opened two new locations. I tried the one in Yonkers and it is was awsome. same lovely staff and food. The place is also very nice with a banquet hall. I will have to try the one in New jersey as soon as i have time.

Great food but lacking in service

The food was excellent as you will see on all the reviews on this page. In fact, I'd call it amazing even. But we had odd goings-on with the service. I had a party of eight there for a birthday. First of all, they -- and I'm not completely sure what happened here as there was no explanation though we asked for one -- had our reservation but weren't prepared remotely for it and even though the reservation said 8 (and we saw in their book that 8 were counted for the reservation) they kept trying to tell us that it was 10. Our waiter was vaguely like an army drill sargeant who was visibly annoyed when we insisted on waiting for all people to join before he took our order. He would toss us reproving looks every now and then. The meal went fine until we had paid our bill. Then we were urged to leave as there was a reserved party coming in... we were still finishing our drinks and we stated so politely. A fine night was spoiled -- just a bit, mind you -- by the gruffness of the maitre'd who was terse and rude at the end but just unprepared at the beginning. Enough to make me not want to go back...
