Great food but...
We had dinner at BA last week and after reading the reviews this place has we were expecting to have a great time and treat ourselves with great steaks and red wine. We had to wait a little to be seated and I can swear the manager at the door seated other people that arrived after us first. I had the filet mignon that was very tender and cooked to a perfect medium ( very difficult task ) mashed potatoes were not as good, tasted old and warm...my friend's fries were very good though, and her rib eye was tasty and yummy, so was the caramel crepe for dessert. wine was good and a great value for the 32 bucks but service was odd and everybody that works there seemed so unexplicably tense, nervous and jumpy. the waitress was very attentive but oversmiling so much we thought she was faking it big time...then she dissapeared and other waiter finished her job which looked totally unprofessional. We will be back a second time but these people need to relax a little...Best features: the quality of the argentinean meat is great! and the prices are very fair for NYC. Recommended.

Excellent, Well Worth the Visit
This is probably the most authentic Argentine menu I've seen outside of Argentina, and the best steak I've had since being in Argentina. The wine menu boasts a variety of Malbecs at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is lively, casual, and comfortable. I can't wait to go back.

Highly recommended
The people who run this place are gracious, accommodating, and well-informed. I've had excellent meals here i ncluding a fine assortment of wines. The food was always well cooked and fresh. I love this restaurant for long conversations and unhurried enjoyment of the simple pleasures of the table.

Beyond worth it
i've been here a couple times. a crowded friday evening, and for a rainy quiet lunch one day. both times the service was wonderful. the prices are great. the assortment and variety of menu options is by far better than comparable restaurants in the area. the food was really good - if not a little overdone. since the argentinians prefer their beef cooked well - if you want a medium cooked steak, ask for a rare or medium rare version to get it cooked the way you like. make sure to ask for extra marinade (chimme churry?) as this is fantastic. the wines can't be beat. a perfect mid-day escape. soon - the backyark will be open for smaller parties (in consideration of the neighbors). go for it!

Skip it
I would not recomend this place, I had some veal rose and zi felt like I was chewing on the piece of wood. Empanades were good, service very poor, and the place is just simple not worth the visit.

Excellent Meal
Yesterday's meal at buenos aires was probably one of the fullest and most enjoyable meals i've had in a long time. Excellently prepared meat, grilled just as we liked it, empanadas de carne were fresh out of the oven, the wine pairing (recommended by the waiter) was perfect. The meal was delicious and worth every penny.
