A group of us went to Buddakan on a Saturday night. I had made the reservation weeks in advance. We still had to wait more then 30 minutes to get seated! We were pretty annoyed but were able to get the attention of a manager (after a few failed attempts). The manager came over, apologized and gave us a bottle of Prosecco on the house. After that we were seated and got our dinner in a timely fashion and the food was flavorful. Overall, I would recommend Buddakan if you want to experience an over hyped chi chi New York restaurant.

I was a little leery going to Budakkan after reading prior reviews on how bad the service was, the food not being up to par & that it was very expensive. I'm glad I went because I had such a lovely experience. The ambiance was great, the service was on point and the food was delicious. Dinner for 2 wasn't expensive at all especially being that it's in the city. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Good food. Nice space. Comically poor service. We waited forever for the main courses. They apologized for the long wait and gave us complimentary dessert which really made us smile. Except the guy who we were celebrating a birthday with decided to order coffee. He mistakenly thought we had re-entered their radar. Wrong. First, we had to wait forever to get a waiter's attention, and then it took forever to get the coffee. From the bar to the front desk, the staff seems to be in a coma... or just rude and arrogant.

I was very much looking forward to Buddakan but left feeling very, very dissatisfied. We struggled on all menu items as the description showed strange pairings that quite frankly did little to titillate the senses and start the salivating process. The frozen-to-fried duck spring rolls were the first confirmation of a restaurant having nothing but a trendy name and atmosphere. This was followed by a cold 2lb Lobster saturated in teriyaki sauce, lobster shell crackers but without a bib and lobster meat competing with a strange plate-full of red and yellow peppers. Even the tail was chopped in a way no chef of knowledge would prepare. The vegetables and lomein noodles were also dripping in sauce and had zero flavour of any value. This was followed by an un-inspirational desert card (Creme Brulee with Coconut?) and we saved the $20. To add to the poor performance, the sitting in a hallway was not acceptable. Our server was good and attentive and our Sancerre was a moderate $60. A very disappointing spend of $140 with no inspiration from the kitchen, a poor menu and an even poorer Chef. I am very pleased to NOT recommend this poor location to all my friends and family. Bypass it at all cost- sub 1*.

The service here is absolutely subpar. Our meal felt rushed. I'm a sucker for awesome service. At the end of my meal, I was left wondering if I should come back here for the food...wish they delivered so I didn't have to deal with such poor service again.

this place is absoulutely beautiful from start to finish...went with a few friends after work and enjoyed it all... i would agree with the posters below that "family size" is not really family size but dim sum is meant to share so i can see the reason behind it...but the coconut crem bruilee is excellent! along with the Alaskan cob fish..magnifcent.... the scallion panckae, crispy duck egg rolls, ribs, asian stir fry veggies...the only thing i didnt like so much the crispy noodles with chicken..i dont think i am a fan of that period all around..other wise the food, place, & desert, were all great I will definitely be back for 2nds soon :)

WOW! We went here on New Years and the normal menu was available. (No minimum) To start off, the staff from the beginning to the end was amazing. They were so polite to us when we came in, seated us right away, our waitress gave white glove service (minus the white glove) and one of the hosts escorted me to a restroom when the one near my table had a long wait. The food was out of this world. We started with the scallion pancakes. They were better than expected. Then we had the general tsos dumplings. They were so flavorful. We each got an entree. I had the crispy shrimp, which were out of this world and my boyfriend had the fliet mignon. He loved it! We had a side of califlower, which was sauteed with pork. It was such a surprise. So delicious. We also got the pork lo mein, which was tasty as well. We ended with the peanut butter bomb for dessert. (It was New Years afterall!) I should also add that we got a bottle of wine for $36- not too bad. The atmosphere was exquisite! I've never been in a more magnificent restaurant than this all around. The total bill came to $150 for 2 people, which is expensive, but we got so much food! Next time we could definately cut back and keep it to $100, which is definately not bad for NYC! Check this place out ASAP!
