Not as good as it used to be
I moved to Tribeca in the late nineties and this place was like a second home. It had a family like atmosphere and REALLY good home style meals. I stayed loyal until very recently when I ordered one of my favorites and it was disappointing--fried chicken, mac and cheese and green beans. The chicken was greasy, the mac and cheese slimy (still had the good crusty topping but the inside was like slop) and the greens were just eh. This was not the first time I've been disappointed but it is the last time I'll eat there. Prices are over the top and the food has gone down, down, down.

Disappointing experience
Went yesterday for brunch and wound up spending $120 for ordinary diner food ( 4 people) My wife actually had to get up to request the butter she had asked for 15 minutes previously. $4 for a cup of coffee is ridiculous. $15 for an ordinary burger which was really not cooked properly, but I did not feel like returning it as my waitress had disappeared.

Not the place it used to be
Went to Bubby's last weekend because I remember it fondly from years ago when I first moved to NYC. I could not have been more disappointed. We had a 45 minute wait for a meal for 3 which set us back $100 with tip (for food, no alcohol). The service was fine -- when we could find our waiter -- but I nearly not knocked out by a busboy who elbowed me in the head and then glared at me as though it was my fault. This restaurant is resting way too much on it's laurels and the fact that there are not a lot of alternatives in the neighborhood. Do yourself (and your wallet) a favor and avoid it.

You want how much for that egg?
The juevos rancheros are good and so is the ham christo sandwich (I don't actually remember the sandwich name). The food is very high quality and some of the best homefries I ever had-although they are not always served hot. The service can be good or it can be really bad. If you order blueberry pancakes don't be surprised if you can't find an actual blueberry inside even if you offer to pay extra for extra blueberries. The coffee is Irving Farms and it is delicious. The 7-grain toast is great. Everything is top of the line but it does cost an arm and a leg for food that isn't spectacular. The atmosphere is fun (lots of fancy people trying to look down to earth) but can be loud. I have eaten here many times but don't plan to go back. My last trip soured me. I am over it!

don't go if you have it. The food is good but way too salty.

disappointed
I'll never understand it. I've been living in Tribeca for over a year and always saw a line outside of Bubby's. It makes the entire neighborhood smell like delicious bacon - it must be good, right? NO! I went with two friends, waiting 15 minutes to be seated and walked out $90 poorer. The portions were VERY small and nothing was particularly good. I got a lunch sandwich which was decently sized but my friends with the breakfast were less than full. Tiniest omelet I've ever seen. Might have used two eggs - and 1/2 a potatoes worth of hashbrowns. No idea why this place does so well. Won't be going back.

such a sad salad
$20 Cobb salad took 1 hour to deliver 3 blocks.. wilted lettuce, wrong dressing. Thrown together and not very tasty. Scary delivery guy. so sad because I always support the local joints, but the food has really gone down hill.
