On our 3 day trip to NY from Iceland, this was experience that we will not forget, expecially the athomsphere, and fun service. We had a lot of fun, had wonderful lunch and great margaritas. If you want to have fun, have great food and try something different you should definitely try this out.

This place is the best when it comes to wanting sea food. This was the first trip for my 3 children ages 11, 9 and 4 to the big apple and they had a blast and really loved the food. The service was wonderful and the waiter and waitress were very entertaining and friendly....

Well, our first choice for today's meal was Carmine's restaurant around the corner from Bubbas, but alas, reservations only and we couldn't get in... and I am so glad we didn't. It was only 3:15 on Saturday, but the wait at Bubbas was 45 minutes. We pushed our way to the bar and my husband got the seat (sore back) and I stood to order our drinks (which were soo good, please go and try a Delta Sunset and Georgia Peach, YUM). Our waitress was ultra friendly asking us Forrest Gump trivia, which my husband excelled at! The "you peel" steamed shrimp in garlic was delicious, and presented so cute in a turned over shrimp basket. My fried shrimp were crunchy and juicy and my husbands mahi mahi and mashed potatoes were absolutely wonderful. The place is cute and fun - but we simply had to push our way out the front door at 5:15pm. I wonder is there is ever a down time at Bubbas? Would we go there again - heck yes - would I recommend this place, oh yes - maybe someday we'll try Carmines...

All things considered, we wouldn't go back. The wait was an hr & 45 min. after being told about an hr. After waiting outside for 30 min we ventured to the bar. There we had to wait about another 30 min to get a seat & service. I guess they can't ask you what you would like to drink if standing. Our rating is really based on the service at the bar which was nill. Actually, we felt it was quite rude. Our server at the table was very polite & she provided very good service.

This place is yet another chain...the food is OK, but with so many choices in NYC, why settle for a chain?

Before hitting a matinee of Hairspray we decided to check out Bubba Gumps at the risk of it being a "chain". We are SO happy that we did! We were greeted with smiles and organization. Our waiter was a pleasure and ever so helpful (as was all of the staff we encountered). The food was FANTASTIC! I personally fell in love with the New Orleans Shrimp. (...hoped to see the recipe in the cook book I found in the shop below the restaurant.) The experience from...soup to nuts...was well worth it and made our day!

Everyone should visit Bubba Gumps! We had a great time and plan on returning. There were 10 of us and we sat in this lovely private room that was modeled after Forest Gump's mom's kitchen. It has 2 round tables that sat 6 kids at one table and 4 adults at the other-plenty of room and not too loud. It wasn't busy yet because we arrived at noon on a Sunday. We loved our waiter- he was the best! He has a great sense of humor, great smile, and high aptitude for his job. He made our experience what it was. Fun trivia, too. We loved the S.S. (it's a secret thing he did w/ little packets). Okay, now for the food...it was pretty good. Some loved their food like James- he had the spicy shrimp and he's 12. The rest of us kids 12 , 11, 10, 9, & 8 ate off the kid's menu which was just fine like any other kid menu out there. Our moms both tried a shrimp dish which they said was good-and they should know because they eat seafood and cook seafood all of the time- they had coconut shrimp & stuffed shrimp- not the best they ever had but great portions and tastey. Grandma tried the mahi-mahi in spicy sauce. She always asks for extra napkins & sauce- she got everything she needed quickly and she liked her lunch a lot but of course only ate 1/4 of it because it was so much, especially the mound of mashed potatoes. Dad had the fried seafood bucket- he liked it but not the best he has ever had- he thought they should stick w/ New England Cod for the fish&chips dinner. Mahi didn't cut it or the crawfish- kind of BLAH! Hush puppies were good but we wished we ordered 1 portion because our lunch portions were big and we couldn't take doggy bags because we went to the wax museum after. The frozen drinks for kids aren't that great- lots of ice and hard to get the stuff on the bottom- we liked our cups to go though. Dad had the lemonade w/ strawberries- delicious! Mom said the wine was okay, too expensive for the amnt and no wine glass to be had in the entire restaurant- bummer. Now for the BEST part- Victoria celebrated her 12th b'day there- the waiter had her stand on the window ledge overlooking Time Square and the staff sang a funky b'day song to her. She loved it! We had an AWESOME TIME! Pure entertainment and so worth every bit of everything we experienced. Clean bathrooms, too! Very important! Have Fun!
