    We truly enjoyed...

I'm from Philly and go to NYC several times a year with two picky kids (age 9 and 12) to visit their 94 year old great grandmother and take in the museums/sights. It's been a challenge to find restuarants that we can all agree upon. We went to a very early seating (we arrived at 5:30) and had a *lovely* time. We got a kick out of walking there amongst the 5 o'clock foot traffic and past the Library -- the boys got a kick out of noting it's situated nothing like in the movie "Day After Tomorrow" and that there was no way a huge ship could've floated past... Because of the early hour, we were seated straightaway at a table near the windows so we could look out over the Park and people-watch. The service was surprisingly prompt and the staff were quite nice! There was a small basket of chunked breads and rolls (tasty!) to nibble on, and cocktail service as we awaited our meals. While there is no "children's menu" per se (as we had read on another website), the boys had the grilled chicken (and no to-do from Mssrs Picky about the lovely rosemary flavoring): one with the paired homemade fries and one with whipped potatoes. Their plates were *clean*! Gram enjoyed the penne pasta and shrimp, and I had the Timbale of tuna and salmon tartare appetizer as my entree, which was served with just a bit of cilantro throughout and topped with red and black caviar and little dollops of sour cream: my plate was cleaned too! Desserts were ice cream, strawberry crepes with rhubarb compote and a creme brulee with a rich pudding and a generous layer of caramelized sugar on top. Delicious and relaxing, a very nice family option with a very "New York" feel for a mealtime before the later-evening rush.

    Will return.....

My business associate and clients enjoyed a wonderful lunch. We each ordered different items and all of us raved about the food. I had the Spring Lamb Salad and the Salmon. Both were excellent. We shared the cookie -confection plate w/coffee for dessert. I'm very thankful that my assistant made reservations there for us.

    Great setting

We ate here on the first night of our trip to NYC as we thought that it was a nice setting. We asked for a window table but were given one on the far side of the restaurant against the back wall but I was so hungry that I chose not to make an issue of this. We ordered entrees only with a bottle of wine all of which came very quickly. We both ordered the grilled chicken breast and in terms of amount I can't complain becasue the there was plenty however the meat was a little on the dry side, not unusual for breast meat I acknowledge, and the fries were very dried out. Coupled with the speed with which the food was brought to the table I surmise that these had been pre-prepared and kept in a warmer. The wine was very nice and the waitress who attended our table was very pleasant and helpful as were all the members of staff that we dealt with. I would have been happy to have waited longer for my food to ensure that it was at its best when it arrived, as it was i felt slightly let down.

Nice atmosphere, mediocre food & service

The atmosphere at Bryant Park Grill is great, big windows, ivys, greenery surroundings but thats pretty much where it ends. I went to dinner with my sister-in-law, we didnt have a reservation but the place was barely 1/2 full so we were seated. It took the waiter about 15 minutes to come by and ask us if we wanted something to drink. I think that since we didnt order any wine or expensive alcoholic drink, he wrote us off. We each ordered a salad for appetizer which was fine - hard to mess up field greens with balsamic. For main I had grilled free range chicken which was ok, and she had salmon which she enjoyed. For dessert we each had a hot drink and shared the molten valhora chocolate cake with ice cream. This dessert is supposed to be very warm when served. It was not - it was cold which completely ruins that dessert. The waiter only came by twice - once after the food came and when I wanted the check. The busboys who are the ones who actually serve the food were very slow. I overheard another waitress get upset with a busyboy for bringing dessert out too late, as they had already left. Bryant Park Grill needs to work on their food preparation and staff if they would like to keep their diners happy. I certainly will not be back anytime soon.

    A Great Pre-Show Dinner

My wife and I had a great time. Pre dinner cocktails were superb. The only problem with my calamari was that I couldn't finish them. My wife pronounced the chunky crab cakes delicious. My entree of grilled tuna was cooked to perfection and my wife enjoyed her seafood grill. Desserts were also delicious. Wine was reasonably priced and of good quality. Service was good, reasonably quick and very friendly. I will go back next time I am in Manhattan.

    Always great

Bryant Park Grill has a really great, diverse menu and I've never been disappointed. The service is a bit spotty, but if you don't mind waiting (i.e. you have time to sit and chat) it's really not that big of a deal. I love the atmosphere here--the ivy, the decor, etc. Highly recommend.

    Unpleasant Brunch

We had a day after wedding brunch at Bryant Park- reservations for 1:00 for 18 people. They put us at a small table- then moved us to a table where several of the chairs were wet- not damp- wet. It was impossible to get drinks or food orders placed- when the food finally came it was over a long stretch of time and largely cold.....For $28 I feel a seafood omelet should have deveined shrimp... It took us until 3:30 to finally get everyone fed- and it was not leisurely dining- it was frustrating and annoying and overpriced subpar food.
