Brown is the best! Great service, great food, great atmosphere! It's not expensive and you get so many extra touches (i.e. amuse bouches, petite fours for dinner service, lemon in you water glass, pretty flowers on the tables etc.) The service is attentive but not overpowering, the food is interesting, tasty, and not too heavy. Try the mac and cheese and the charcuterie plate! It is a great spot for lunch, brunch and dinner! I live on the Upper East Side but still come down for brunch all the time!

I've tried 5 different lunch sandwiches here and every one of them has been disappointing (some were down right gross). I tried hard to like this place as it is close to my work but it really shouldn't be that hard to make a decent sandwich. The flank steak was overcooked and so chewy it was almost inedible. I passed it over to my friend for a second opinion and she spat her piece out. The cheese and pickles sandwich was so salty I couldn't finish it. Tuna and prosciutto are also way too salty. Portobello has too many flavours you can't even taste the portobello. Lame.

My wife and I ate here last night and had an AMAZING meal! Everything from the food to the service was great! We started with a few cocktails from their small, but interesting cocktail list. They don't have a liquor licence but they make great cocktails out of wine and prosecco. We then ordered a bottle of white wine. The servers were very knowledgable about everything on the menu as well as the wine list. I ordered the leg of lamb and my wife had the bass. For an appetizer, we split the mac and cheese, which I have to say, was ridiculously good! For dessert we split the chocolate brownies which were great as well. I definitely will be back!!

food was excellent (everything we ordered was delicious), atmosphere was perfect, staff was probably the rudest i've ever encountered at a restaurant.

my first visit last year was incredible. staff was great. all the desserts (we ordered all of them) were Incredible. however, my last two visits were a disappointment. i went twice w/in several weeks. 1st visit: great service, steak was great, chicken-hard/dry. brownie-really dry. 2nd visit: terrible service. steak, clearly had sat for a while before being served. brownie really dry again (what happened??). Overall, think the food, when done well, is Really great (mac and cheese - so good!) just wish the quality was more consistent. i gave a lower score b/c neither service nor food was consistently good the last two visits. for the amount i spent for both dinners(both for 2 ppl - avg $90), it was disappointing.

always enjoy browns, its not like other restuarants where sometimes you feel asif your part of a money making machine. alot of ny restuarants especially balthazar feels likes a factory. at browns you get incredible food, the staff are friendly, good looking and know the menu. the atmosphere is relaxed, everytime im in there i feel likes its a sunday.

I live near this place and it is my default restaurant of choice. I enjoy the understated atmosphere and excellent fresh food as often as I can.
