    Used to be better...

It's a shame because the food is decent at Brother Jimmy's and the prices for dinner are reasonable. The service, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I have been a loyal customer for five years, but on my last four or five visits I have noticed a steady decline in the service and attitude of the hostesses, wait staff and managers. The Frat-boy/Sorority-girl attitude has got to go! Most of the time the hostesses act like they are doing you a favor by giving you a table and are unreceptive to your requests. When my friends and I had a problem with the hostess, the manager was unwilling to make it right. There is no one that seems to be over 21 working at Brother Jimmy's, and maybe that is a large part of the problem... a more mature managerial and wait staff might be better equipped to deal with customers. There are plenty of restaurants on Amsterdam Ave.; patrons (especially those over the age of 25) should avoid Brother Jimmy's and go to any one of these other places for dinner.

    Frat Party

The food is fine, but the atmosphere is full of piggly-wiggly sorority girls gone wild... better suited for North Carolina, or at least Hoboken.

I ate here once because I heard good things about it, twice because I wanted to give it a second chance, and both times were bad experiences. The food is not good and the service is worse.

    Good times, good food

Most people probably think of Brother Jimmy's as a party bar, which it is. However, they also have the best BBQ in NYC. If you want real BBQ, then check this place out. I especially recommend the sliced brisket and the dry rub ribs. If you have no idea what this is, then get in here and try it, because you obviously haven't tasted real barbeque yet! Tell them Mr. Ribs sent you!

Better food than expected - try the Northern style ribs if you don't feel adventurous. Spicy collard greens are a nice complement. A true sports bar with TV's everywhere, it's surprisingly kid - and - family friendly. Oh - the waitresses are cute and the service is quite good. Very cute. :)

    If you can't visit, order!

When I dont have three hours to kill, drinking beers and over-tipping the gorgeous waitstaff, I order my pulled pork sandwich for delivery. I've tried em all over the city and keep returning to my mainstay, Brother J's. Excellent apps., sides and cornbread add to the food coma.
