Brother Jimmy's on East Side is better

I have had Brother Jimmy's twice. The first time on the UES was great, including food and service. I recently ate at the UWS location and was disappointed. The food and service was not even close to the UES. The mac and cheese tasted like crap. If I go back it will be to the east side.

    disappointed

I've been here a few times, mostly for wings on Saturdays. I recently went with some friends and was more disapointed than usual. The ribs had more chunks of fat than meat, they were burnt and then slathered in sauce to make it look like they weren't. Everyone else I went with was not happy with thier food. I recommend drinking thier over priced fishbowl Swap Juice and ordering thier starters..but thats about it. Waitress's are friendly and easy on the eyes but don't do much for you. Most of the night a guy barely speaking english was appearing at our table and not giving us what we asked for or telling our waitress. If it weren't for the sports on the TV's and Buck Hunter video game I would of been more disappointed with this place.

    Eh?

I've had worse..but..I've better, much better. Bad value, medicore food, and stale beer. This place belongs on 46 and B'way. Transplanted tourist trap. Nice staff though...schlock food.

    ladies, ladies, ladies.

the waitresses are cute. the food is mediocre and overpriced. the music is bad and loud. good if you are a frat boy wearing too much abercrombie & fitch cologne, have no manners/social skills, and want to sit around and talk about all the ass you aren't going to get.

    Good Hood BBQ

When I've got a hankering for BBQ, these guys come through every time. Not sure about the some of the hatin' going on cuz I'm not from the South, but as far as my gullet goes, this is good food. My choice is the northern ribs over the other two. Pulled pork and the burnt brisket are my mainstays. Salad is fresh every time. All the sides are good. Cornbread could be bigger and a little more moist, but i still eat it. Maybe the place is not authentic, but i wouldnt know the difference anyway. Bottom line, if you're in the mood for BBQ on the UWS, Bro J will will satisfy.

Cool place, not so good food

The hush puppies were OK, a bit dry. The SC pulled pork was dry and the mac & cheese served luke-warm and runny. The waitress was friendly but nowhere to be seen after placing the order. Overpriced for the portions and quality of food.

    A Southerner says no thanks

Being a native Southerner, I can honestly say that the food is lousy. Mac and cheese isn't supposed to be macaroni noodles floating in Velveeta soup. The BBQ is OK but way overpriced. And what's up with the atmosphere, including the wait staff? I felt like I was at a strip mall in southern New Jersey.
