Don't go in!
Unless you are incredibly homesick for bbq sauce that tastes like olive oil or watered down A1 , save your money and stay at home. In all fairness the bbq chicken isn't bad, but the sauce makes it intolerable. With so many alternatives on the UWS that are far superior and classier, do yourself a favor and don't waste your money here.

Feels like home
As soon as I moved to New York City six years ago, I tried to find places that reminded me of my college expereince at FSU as I was a little homesick. The moment I walked into Brother Jimmy's I was at home. It reminders me of college and Tallahassee to a perfect "T." The music, the atmosphere, the food, the staff, and the clientel make a big city feel like a small southern town. Everytime I go, I have a great time, my food is excellent and the staff always contribute to a good night. Even on nights when I order in, the food is delivered quickly, and is still hot! And my order is never messed up - who can say that about any place in this city! I did have one problem once, but the manager quickly came to my table and very professionally rectified the problem. I will be a Brother Jimmy's fan for life!

we found our new wing place
Since we moved back to New York, we couldn't believe we hadn't been able to find decent wings until we tried Brother Jimmy's. We haven't had their other stuff yet, but the Buffalo wings are just big, juicy, delicious pieces of awesomeness. We got them delivered and devoured them in like five minutes. The main reason I wanted to write this review, though, is that the hostess was kind enough to call us a few minutes after we ordered to let us know that a bunch of calls had suddenly come in, and our delivery might be delayed a bit. We really appreciated the heads-up! Props for great customer service.

Great!
Eat here every couple weeks, great food, great service, great atmosphere. We always order ribs, pitchers of beer, and don't forget to order the swamp water! It's delicious and it does the trick. Everyone is super nice. Definitely head to Brother Jimmy's!

Best Spot After Playing Sports
Anyone who posted a negative review about Brother Jimmy's food, staff or atmosphere was obviously looking for something other than a local hang out for relaxing with friends and being casual. I play ona variety of intramural sports teams and we love going to Brother Jimmy's after games. It is the ideal bar for beers, tasty (unhealthy) food, and hanging out with friends. Always have a good time here and love their weekday specials. You can walk away satisfied, having had fun with your group of friends...for only $20 each. Also, West Side location is the best. East Side locations have crappy layout and breaks up the flow of the bar. Penn Station location doesn't have the same neighborhood vibe. Just a pitt stop for LIRR commuters going in and out of the city.

Good food, poor service
Better have your order ready when you finally get your server's attention, as they tend to disappear. Best BBQ on the UWS. Have the pulled pork and ribs.

downhill
Seems to have gotten worse recently. I've been here at least 25 times in the past couple of years. When I ordered tonight after not having eaten here in at least one month, the food was definitely worse than it's been. They changed the mashed potatoes and put some weird seasoning in them -it's not good. The fried okra has a different batter, and it's also just not good at all- tastes kind of tabasco-y. I won't be back after this.
