    Grease Pit

A bunch of us non-college humans went to this BBQ joint for some wings and ribs. When we got there, they asked for ID, like I was walking into a night club. When we sat down, we noticed that everyone around us was drinking from 1 pitcher right in the center of their tables. They all had their straws in the pitcher while they were chanting and screaming--chug,chug,chug! I could not believe that I actually sat in a place like this. The tables were greasy, the waitress took her sweet time coming to us, and the food was OK but, We would never go back again. This place belongs on a college campus, not on NYC streets.

    Not recommended

I was very dissapointed, I'd read good reviews of Brother Jimmy's (on this site) and it's always packed. Well as far as a bar goes, it great if your a frat boy or frat girl. I got the Ribs and after the first bite I was done. I just payed my check and left. Service and atmosphere was fine, just really poor food.

Franklin St & Hillsborough all over...

There are different styles of BBQ, even in NC. The reviewer below that spoke poorly of Brother Jimmy's must be from Florida because BJ's was definitely Carolina style BBQ. It is the same food that I had at cookouts, tailgate parties, Friday night football games and fundraiser BBQ's. If you are from the South, you know exactly what I am talking about. I visited the night of the Final Four and I was back at a NC State vs Carolina game (Wolfpack Pride!). The decor, atmosphere and menu makes this place my new hangout when I am homesick. Thanks, Brother Jimmy!

This restaurant is highly recomended! I would advise you to get candied yams and try their fresh lemonade! A great restaurant for anyone and cheap prices! Kids 11 and under eat free!

Great food, sexy waitresses, FUN time!

I'm a regular at Brother Jimmy's since moving up here from S Carolina. I love the home cooked food. The waitresses are friendly and sexy. Sort of like Hooters without the cheesiness! It's a Good Time, Ha Ha!

    Southern bbq, what?!?

Being a southerner with a hankerin' for some good barbecue, I went to brother jimmy's expecting a fair interpretation of good southern barbecue. I was excited to see north carolina style pulled pork on the menu and hush puppies, but was completely disappointed once my plate arrived. The pork was dry and lacked any discernable flavor other than that of pepper. The thin barbecue sauce was not good. The hush puppies were dense and lacked flavor, as well. and as we southerners have all seen up here, the cornbread was nothing more than a few sweet corn muffins tossed on a plate.
