love it
I recently moved to NYC from Georgia and as cheesy as it sounds I don't know what I would do if I had not been introduced to Brother Jimmy's by one of my friends. My first time going, back in May, my expectations were pretty. I love Southern BBQ and didn't plan on finding NYC's version of it very impressive. Much to my delight, I was wrong! THe pulled pork had great flavor, the collard greens tasted like my grandmother's and the mac and cheese was delicious. Since that visit have have rarely been dissappointed. The food can take a while to come out at times, but the service is always great. The girls who work there are so sweet, the bar scene is great (especially if you like sports) and the bartenders can be hilarious! Brother Jimmy's is definitely my favorite restaurant and bar in NYC.

um, never again
I went here to meet some friends -- I'm a vegetarian, but I thought, whatever, I'll have a few drinks and maybe a side dish. I ordered their sides of mac & cheese and potato salad. I wasn't expecting high class cuisine, but this stuff was just plain nasty. It was like overcooked pasta held together by Elmer's glue, and the potato salad, well I'm not sure if it had gone bad or was just ... god I don't even know. The wait staff and bartenders were perfectly nice, some even more than nice, but even aside from my natural distaste for this place because of the dead animal aspect, this place is just bad.

By far the only good bbq in nyc
The only authentic North Carolina pulled pork in NYC. I have had just about everybodys BBQ in NYC and nobody comes close to Brother Jimmys. Being from Carolina bbq is very important to me, i havnt had descent bbq since i moved to NY 10 years ago. I just moved to UES and thought i would give this place a shot. I can gaurentee this is the only place who makes bbq pulled pork the correct way

Better BBQ and Service Can Be Found
Waited 45 minutes for a table for 2 by the bathroom when there were plenty of tables open. The four high school drop-outs that seat people have no idea what they are doing. Once seated it took 20 minutes to find our waitress and get a drink. BBQ is mediocre at best. But they brough us a chicken sandwhich instead of catfish! Service and atmosphere are poor. Take your business elsewhere if you are looking tro dine. This is a meat-head bar and nothing else. Stay away!

Best burger in town
I order from this place all the time- best burger I've had since I've moved into NYC. Good ribs and wings, too. There was one time where my delivery was over an hour late, but they ended up giving us the meal for free (which we appreciated!) Highly recommend!

Not too shabby
We are from Memphis, so we didn't go in with too high of expectations after a miserable experience at Virgils. We just thought barbecue in the city would just be miserable all around. But we decided to give Brother Jimmy's a try, and we're glad we did. I had the north carolina pulled pork sandwich (with slaw of course) and my wife had the pulled chicken sandwich. Both were quite good and the sides (baked beans and biscuits and gravy) really fit in with the meal. Not Corky's, but for somewhere close, we would definitely go back. Plus since we are from the south, we got 25% off because it was Wednesday. Will have to come back for the ribs on Sunday ($23 for all you can eat ribs + all you can drink beer).

Awesome Pulled Pork sandwich
I really enjoyed the south carolina pulled pork sandwich and the mustard bbq sauce that went with it. Delicious food and lively crowd made this a fun experience.
