    Good for what it is

Good homestyle bbq in young, atmosphere. It is what it is and that is good. It's cheap and good food.

    horrible hostess

usually when you make a reservation you expect to be seated... well not at this place... they gave our table away... not only that, they told us that we would be the next one seated, and so we waited for an hour, until they told us we will never be seated!!!! HOW RIDICULOUS!!!! we were furious and left try to enjoy whatever was left of our night... will never go back to this place.... their 'southern hospitality' is not so nice after all... they should really learn some manners and let their customers know from the beginning if they don't plan to seat them. I felt mistreated.

    cold food, poor service

The waitress was not good and only came by once. the mac and cheese was room temp and the sweet potato fries were mushy and room temp. Definitely not worth the price. the busboy was the one good thing about the service because he kept our water glasses full.

    Great for kids

Kids ate for free with ice cream and enjoyed playing skeeball. Matched with great happy hour beer specials and good ribs everyone was happy.

    Good meat, not sauce

Bro. Jimmys is carolina BBQ. True southerners know that Carolina BBQ is not that good. They tend to be very heavy with the vinegar. There sauce reflects this. I go there but I bring my own sauce. Just about any sauce off the shelf is better than the mess they make.

Great Food, varying service, pricy beer.

I've been going to several locations of this restaurant for years. Primarily I always meet people there on Monday nights for the incredible All You and Eat/Drink Wings, RibTips, and Tap Beer special for something like $16.95. They still have that special...and that still represents about 99% of my patronage of Brother Jimmy's. The food is exceptional...I've never visited the place and gotten bad food. This is main thing to remember about the place...the good food. The service however is another story.....I once visited the Amsterdam Ave. location and they tried to bar one of my friends from entering to eat dinner around 7pm because he was under 21...it took about 20 minutes to get the manager to explain that he intended to drink soda with his meal and we were simply there to have dinner. The manager in question still told us he didn't understand why "someone under 21 would want to hang out in a bar and not drink" although this place is also a RESTAURANT. Another time several friends threw me a going away party at the Midtown location when I moved out of the country for a year. They negotiated an ALL YOU CAN DRINK special for everyone attending the party for a set price per person...which they specified included Tap beer and fishbowls. Then the management started complaining when we ordered "too many" fish bowls and later tried to ask us to leave when several patrons un-associated with our party started trouble with a bartender or something...downstairs...not anywhere near us. Basically we spent a ton of money at the place and they treated us like poorly. Don't get me wrong...I've had several really good experiences with the service, but I have to say I've had more unpleasant experiences. The drink prices are another downside to this place. I stopped in last week to get a few pitchers with friends...its 17 dollars for 1 pitcher of Bud Light. Be aware of this when you start ordering beer...because it goes down quick as you eat the awesome food. Overall...I'd say my recommendation of this place is ONLY visit the place on nights when they have a special going...unless you're prepared to spend tons of money on domestic beer but once again...the food is always awesome
