    Skimpy and Fatty

No these were not the names of chef and waiter! well it was the least satisfying of the BBQ places i've tried (a few). The sides were skimpy (small side dish size) and my pulled pork was too fatty (perhaps that is authentic? no thanks!), so i had to carefully pick through it in the dark outdoor seating. seemed like a nice place to hang. a rather young single crowd that mirrored the neighborhood, but a bit noisy sports bar like on the inside.

    ugh

I ate here the other day after having a bad experience over a year ago. I vowed to not go back but somehow was convinced to go. What an idiot I was. The food is absolutely disgusting. The waiter was ok but blame really needs to go to the cook, if that's what you can call them. If you are into BBQ, go to a real place like Hill Country or Daisy May. The only redeeming quality about this place is that, oh wait, can't think of one.

Not what it used to be

I used to go to the original Brother Jimmys in the early 90's- great food and cheap. Unfortunately it's not what it used to be. The food ,while not fancy was always good and cheap- the food now is inedible. The service (especially at the East 31st location) is terrible and the prices have been jacked up through the roof- $18 for a cheap pitcher of beer, the food prices are double what they were just a couple of years ago and again, the food is terrible.

    this is not bbq

really soggy nachos with no cheese, so far from real carolina pulled pork, i hate when people try to call it something that it clearly isnt, not at all that good or authentic. oh, and no bbq sauce on the bbq sandwich. i guess thats what happens when a big corporation does bbq.

    if you like lukewarm food

This is the place for you if you like lukewarm food. I ordered the northern style ribs with mac & cheese and fries. the only thing on my plate that was lukewarm was the ribs. everything else was cold. and the corn muffins they give are a crubly dry mess!! definitely NOT worth the $23 Oh, and don't sit near the window seats on a cold day because there is a draft that comes in and you will have to eat with your coat on. If you want a seat that's in the corner or away from the window we were told those are for reservations only. Good luck

    Yummy Ribs

Best BBQ in the area. I always get the Northern Style Ribs and they never disappoint. Crowd is a little annoying and the music is a tad loud, but I just ignore it and focus on the food. Yum.

    this is really BBQ?

Brother JImmy's is supposed to be a BBQ joint but completely fails as one. The other day I ordered BBQ wings for an appetizer and a grilled chicken sandwhich with fries for my main course. I'm fat and love food - as such, I never have got an order of wings that I couldn't finish, that is, until now... The wings were cooked pourly, had burnt marks from being over fried and were very fatty. To make is worse, the homemade BBQ sauce was not good - how can one survice as a BBQ joint and have horrible sauce? I thought the sandwhich would be better and how I was wrong. The bread was stale and hard. The chicken was pounded super thin and very dry. Also, they left the BBQ sauce off the BBQ chicken sandwhich! The only thing good about that mistake was that I could put my own sauce on instead but I still couldn't finish the low quality stuff. So I figured I could at least get some happiness from the fries - I mean, that's hard to screw up, right? Wrong! It was obvious that they were already cooked and then reheated. They tasted stale and their special seasoning was horrendous. This is the first time I ever have reviewed any restaurant. It was sooo bad I had to open up an account and warn others to avoid this place.
