So, I was looking for an easy going joint with good food and atmosphere. I saw a review for Brookvin and decided to come on down. My friend and I were warmly greeted and invited to make ourselves comfortable. The host brought us menus and suggested the amazing Pumpkin Spice Manhattans we both had. They were amazing! Then we had spectacular small plates that sent our taste buds soaring. Brookvin is ...just wow. It is so great that I almost don't want to share.

I'm so surprised by some of the other reviews because I love this place. I just went back for the second time last night, and the owner and staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating (our table of four definitely lingered over our wine after dinner, but we never felt rushed), the space is warm and cozy, and the food and wine is delicious and not overly expensive. One of my new favorite neighborhood spots.

After having a lovely evening which included several glasses of wine and many, many tartines, my friends and I were wrapping things up. We had just paid our tab ($130 sans tip) and we were waiting for one person in our party to return from the restroom. The manager of Brookvin came to our table and informed us that there were parties waiting for our table, and unless we wanted to order something else, we needed to leave. This was tactless and rude and it will be awhile before I return. I would expect this from a trendy, tourist trap in Manhattan, but not from a cozy, neighborhood establishment.

The atmosphere of this bar is great, but the wine selection is lacking. It isn't that the selection is small, there just isn't much that stands out on the wine list. All of the wine is fine, but there was nothing special about it- nothing that made me say "wow." I wanted this place to be great, but unfortunately it was just okay.

I loved loved loved this place. LOVED. couldn't say a bad word against it.... until now. i don't know what's happening, but slowly and surely the quality is slipping. The once outstanding cocktails are now overly sweet and almost undrinkable, the waitstaff, once attentive is now snarly - I love their wine list and i love the space - I want to go back, but not feelin the love!

I went here last friday with my parents and it was just perfect. With the rain on hold we were lucky enough to grab the last table outside. After starting off with half a bottle of wine of our own liking we recieved a fantastic recommendation from our server. All the various small plates we tried were fresh and perfect with ambiance and the wine. Our favorite had to be the pancetta sandwich and the summer vegetable salad. I really enjoyed everything about this place and hopefully will come back on another non rainy day to enjoy some wine and great food.
