not that bad, not that great.

i live a block away so it's a shame i don't like this place better. i've been at least 5 different times (always drawn back by the fact that it's so close) but every visit has put me in a bad mood. the food isn't better than anywhere else and cost a few dollars more. the burger is too peppery, and came on a cheap, wonder bread bun that wasn't even toasted, so it arrived to the table soggy. now the waffle. it's good, i'll give them that. but it is NOT worth $8.50. c'mon. it's barely bigger than an eggo. and my "fresh fruit" that came with it, was 4 berries: 3 blackberries, and 2 strawberry halves. my boyfriend always gets the tofu and potatoes. he says it's really good, but he has pointed out to me that the portion has gotten much smaller since the first time we went. now, they have a "lunch menu" on their website, but don't let that fool you, they arent' serving it yet. i assumed that if they had it posted that it would be in effect at the restaurant today, but no. all in all, it's not bad. the coffee is good, the waitstaff is nice, the food is alright, but i'd rather go somewhere else.

Where do they get their bagels?

I've been here a few times, I really like thier coffee. The last few times I got a cream cheese bagel to go and the lox bagel. When I bit down I couldn't even chew through the bagel. I managed with the cream cheese, but the lox with all the stuff on it just fell off. What, did you guys start selling three day old bagels? Come on, if I pay a specific amount for a high quality meal, I don't expect to be eating a chew toy. Step it up guys, I know it can be done. The coffee here is always excellent.

    get to this place!

I tried this place on a friend's recommendation and I can't wait to get back. My Chili Colorado was uniquely wonderful - so good that it'll be hard to try something else next time. But the way my friends' talked about their dishes I think I can go another ten times without ever having the same thing and be just as happy. I also love the ambiance and the staff gave just the right combination of attentiveness and warmth without pouring it on falsely. The hot chocolate bar is another divine touch.

I wish I lived in the neighborhood..

A friend of mine just moved within walking distance of this place so we decided to give it a try. The staff was really friendly and the atmosphere casual, my kind of place :) I read someone's earlier review about the Mexican hot chocolate so we ordered a few cups - totally delicious! The food was really great, and I'd eat there a few times a week if I lived in the area. We were told they'd only been open for 5 weeks, so they are off to a good start and if tonight was an y indication I'm sure they'll be around for a long time.
