Disappointing
I've been going to BK Label since it opened and it's true, the current incarnation doesn't live up to the glory days of 4 years ago. Went for dinner the other night (had a coupon from scoutmob so why not) and got wine (yay liquor license finally), the buffalo tails, tempeh ruben, and a side salad. The wine was decent, a little pricy but not bad. the buffalo tails--fried chicken tenders w/ buffalo sauce and bleu cheese--were an appetizer that unexpectedly came with fries. Hrm, ok. They were hot and very fried, not unappetizing but dry in parts. They also weren't buffalo-sauced, the buffalo sauce and bleu came on the side. ok, no big, I'll dip...just a little odd that the fries and fact that it was a side-sauce weren't mentioned on the menu. Side salad was decent but didn't have all the ingredients listed as on menu...still decent. my guy's tempeh ruben was good, he said, but not as amazing as others he's had Anyway, it made-do for a meal out and the discount was great, but I dont know that we'll be back anytime soon. Service was fine, I should mention, and the restaurant itself has always been aesthetically pleasing. I should also mention we're kinda picky eaters--vegetarian, some food allergies, etc--so there was a lot on the menu that wasn't for us in the first place. That's another part of why we probably wont be back, there isn't a lot on the menu that really speaks to what we like.

meh
prices keep going up and quality keeps slipping. still a nice spot, and the coffee is good, but "value" suffers. i've also never been to a place more chintzy with their bacon. a$4 side gets you three strips of varying quality.

why can't they have the brooklyn scramble on weekends?
we like this place. especially for brunch-- but why is the brooklyn scramble only on the weekday menu??? the chipolte sauce is a great topping for eggs! also, we are happy that they are finally open for dinner- but the menu is small.... the chicken pillard (spell?) salad is great! check it out.

nightmare!
the tempeh ruben--the best vegan sandwich in all of nyc--is suddenly off the dinner menu!! this is a crisis!

Used to be good...now it's not.
Last year - I was a brunch regular. The food was hot, the waiters friendly, and service fast. But they didn't rush you out. Basically it was perfect - but a bit pricey ($14 for brunch - yelch.) I've been back three times in the past two months - twice for lunch or dinner, once for brunch. Twice it was slow - today it was crazy busy. Different waiters each time. What was consistent was lazy, inattentive service, mediocre, overpriced food, and a 45 minute wait in between ordering and getting food. Then - after it took so long to even serve us our meals - the waitress rudely handed us our check when we were still in the middle of eating. There are always new places opening up - so I see no point in returning to an establishment clearly in decline.

Yummmmy
I am addicted to their veggie burger and fries (you have to ask for the fries or they give you salad) and I'm not even a vegetarian! A little expensive ($9 veg burger) but the portions are big and delicious!
