Brick Lane Curry House

Ok the food is good and so is the service. This is an east village resturant and the service is friendly and not uptight like what you would expect somewhere uptown. Sure there is a wait but if you did not want to wait, then go somewhere down the street, I guarantee you won't have to wait for anything, but then you won't have good food or friendly servers. Yes I will go back and I don't mind waiting. I love this place!

I have been here three times and each time it's the same old story. The food is just fantastic, perhaps the best Indian in the city ... and the service is horrible, easily the worst in the city. The wait service is nice enough, but there is always a wait for menus, water, bread, and so on. The last time I was there I had to wait 20 minutes just to order and our food took some time to arrive. However, I would say that the food IS worth the wait. The food is simply outstanding and I will be going back, even with the horrible service. I just wish the service was as good as the food...

My wife and I enjoyed a relaxing evening at Brick Lane. Considering the other reviews we were not in any hurry- none the less service was responsive, quick enough (not hurried), and welcoming (although not talkative, but I see no problem with this). The food was great- good portions and just the right spice to not distract from the flavor. Price was less than the more "arrogant" establishments uptown. I am no Indian cuisine professional, but I know a good meal when I have one, and this was clearly good!

The service was terrible; they took forever to bring us our menus and the servers were no where to be found, on the other hand, the food I thought was delicious (when it finally arrived) and they had a belly dancer that was funny and weird. Would I go back? If someone else was buying....

Brick Lane is always a delight. Forget the perfect samosas, the amazing curries - the naan is second to NONE. Always easy with a pleasant staff...Best Indian in the city...

My two-year old daughter loves India rice, I went to this place with her one day. First a waiter seemed nice & gave suggestion for "specials" when I request a dished with no spicy for my daughter. After about 30 minutes or so feel like forever, he brought two hot-chill dishes, almost untouchable to even me -- a hot-spicy food lover. When I complained about the spicy in my daugter's food and asked if he could exchange one for her. The waiter was so rude that he pulled both of our dishes away and cursed that's what you want and you can leave if you don't like it. I was so shocked and perhaps screamed about where the manager was. Some one from the kitchen came out and shouted at me: why are you disturb customers and please go away. There were other waiters and the cashier woman just standing there looking. I had to leave immediately because my daughter was horrified with two men rudely shouting at us.

Bad experience. Starting from being seated and waiting almost ten minutes to get a menu to getting our food served almost an hour later and the order was messed up. To top it all off there were maybe only 10 people in the place so they have no excuses. The cold food was undercooked -- the chicken in the vindaloo seemed like it had been taken out of the freezer and not cooked and the nan was stale and burnt. Skip this place.
