    Service issues

I have never had worse service at a New York restaurant. All of the employees were pretentious and rude, and did their best to ignore us whenever possible. It took forever to get seated (we almost walked out, and in hindsight we should have), they didn't give us menus right away so we had to wait for those, and then the waitress dropped off our check with our food and never returned. The food wasn't great either, I don't know why everyone raves about this place. The bread itself is decent but the sandwich fillings were dry and tasteless.

    good food, bad service

the food is yummy and the 1/2 sandwich/soup combo is a great deal, but the service was horrible for the price we were paying for lunch. would go back again, just not planning on tipping a lot

This is a fabulous casual place!

You dont walk into Bread expecting to be cloaked by Russian models and showered with delicate ego massage. NO! Bread is a fabulous coffee and sandwich place with a CASUAL atmosphere.

    Good Place

I have been to Bread several times and never had any problems with the food or the service. It's pretty tasty and gets very crowded on the weekends. It's a typical SOHO restaurant. I recomend it to my friends.

    definately won't be back

Terrible service and mediocre food combined to make this an experience I am definatley not anxious to repeat. It took forever to get a table, even though it was not very busy (5pm on a saturday), and the servers were rude and inattentive throughout.

    Extremely Poor Service

My roommate and I went here despite some mediocre reviews because I was really craving tomato soup. After standing at the door for almost 10 minutes, we were just about to leave when we were finally seated by a man talking on a cell phone. It took another few minutes just to get menus. Our waitress was cold at every interaction - she never announced her presence or came by to check in on us, just came over and reached over our shoulders to drop off or pick up plates without saying a word. And here's the kicker: after we ordered, I was told they were out of the tomato soup. However, about 15 minutes later, the three women seated behind us (who had arrived and ordered after us), all received the soup that they supposedly didn't have. We definitely won't return to Bread.

    Perfectly Fine

Hey, you know? You get what you pay for, and in the case of Bread, that's really not a terrible thing. It's cute, small, pleasant, and the menu is chock full of perfectly passable nibbled. Do not go there expecting a fine dining experience - it's clearly the wrong place for that. Rather, go with a pack of friends in the middle of the day, order up a glass of rose and a couple of those brie tartines and just relax, man. That's what Bread is for - and it does it well.
