    Overpriced & small portions

My boyfriend and I just ordered takeout - a sandwich and the lamb ragu. while the food tasted good, it was not anything spectacular. The portions were so small that it was laughable. We're sitting here wondering what we want to actually have for dinner now. We had high expectations, but unfortunately were disappointed. Maybe it would have been better if we ate in the restaurant and didn't do delivery.

    Ugly tasting food

So, what's there to say really? We ordered two of the Fontina Breads, a cappuccino, and a cheesecake for delivery. The Fontina "Bread" as it's pretentiously referred to was a greasy panini with a crumble of fontina cheese and shit tons of slimy spinach with translucently oily veggies. Yuck. It was so greasy your tongue literally could not pick up any flavor. The strawberry cheesecake was weirdly chemical tasting - sort of minty with notes of strawberry cough medicine. And tiny as hell. The cappuccino was was tasteless with a hint of chlorine. Mayhaps they left cleaning solution in their machine? On top of the grotesque, overpriced eats we asked for two sets of utensils - they included one set with a tiny strip of napkin. Spend your money elsewhere.

    great pleace

Hey people you get what you pay for. You should know by now that Bread is very busy neighbourhood restaurant and its not fast food, so if you want to go there in lunch rush hour dont expect to get table and be served right away. And for fine dining service, there is Baltazar just few blocks away. Bread is cute, pleasant place with great staff. Waitresses are all friendly and nice and helpfull. I go there a lot, and love their soup and sandwich combo which I had yesterday for lunch. Sometimes you have to wait, but heloooo, once again, its not a fast food...relax

    Breadtastic

Went for dinner one night and had an AMAZING pasta with lamb ragu which i highly recommend. I went back for brunch a couple of days later and so my addiction began (i am only in NYC for a month) and I have been back around 8-9 times. Their sandwiches are delicious- all fresh ingredients and crunchy bread rolls to hold it all together - go for the chicken or goats cheese. I tried the polenta with mushrooms last week and it was orgasmic. Unfortunately when i ordered this again yesterday, it came out dry and didnt taste anything like the polenta i ordered last week. If ordering a cappucino, order it in a small cup as the standard cappucino is served in a cup that could host Olympic swimming events...not the perfect way to end a meal. The service is impeccable and the (gorgeous) waitresses are very friendly and helpful.

    I have given up...

They are in the hood, so we keep trying them. Every time we are like "eh, it was ok". We have officially given up as of today. The food really in *not* very good. I have never had any of their pasta's cooked properly, todays pasta was literally like mush, i dont know how they can be so consistent with not being able to cook a pasta properly. Their entres are also pretty poor, again the food is just not that good (at all). Well we kept giving them a shot, and today we have thrown in the towel. If you are looking for good good, I would definitely pass on this place there are TONS of better places in this neighborhood. If you are going for a drink then maybe its cool, but i don't drink so i can not comment... Not sad to see you go...

The best soups in the city!

When I want to feel home I always go to Bread. Theirs soups are always great and the salads fantastic. Service is ok, but the atmosphere is so pleasant that I almost don't care. As long as I have my tomato soup! Stopping by at least twice a week

the curious case of benjamin bread.

As a patron for several years I am disappointed by the great downfall of a once beloved restaurant. After 30 minutes and 3 reminders we finally received a menu. 30 minutes later our order was finally taken. What puzzled me next was the order in which my food came. My entrée came first. My soup came second. And the bread and olive oil was brought over as I was paying my check. A few minutes later the same busboy who had placed the tray of bread on our table came over again. This time he asked if we were leaving. After I replied that we were, he lifted the tray of bread right off our table and served it to someone else. Surprisingly, all that had transpired was not an actual deal breaker for me. I’ll tell you what was: I don’t like my food with a side of unfriendly. I’ll take the food and leave the wait staff behind. All in all my suggestion is make this a take-out destination.
