    unhappy customer

i have been coming to bread for years and have watched as the food and the service went downhill. This weekend I went to have brunch for lack of a better option and the state of the restaurant was unbelievable. We walked in and it took at least 5 minutes for someone to come over to us and say "we have nothing for you". We then talked to the manager who said it would be 5 minutes and we could wait at the bar. The bar was a mess - there was food left from people who had eaten before and the bartender did not clear it for 20 minutes, nor did she talk to us - people were trying to pay for their meals and leave but no waitress would come over to take the check, instead the manager was eating in front of customers! Finally we waited 25 minutes and another party was seated in front of us. Another rude reply from the manager and we left. I will never go back. It was entirely unprofessional and unwelcoming.

    Yum-O!

I'm right around the corner as well, and have been for almost a year. finally decided to eat at BREAD since it's ususally not a place where you'd think will provide quick delivery.... Little did I know. Delicious Italian cheese burger and quick, awesome service. Will definitely order again!

    Take out not recommended

let me preface this by saying i live around the corner from this place and maybe it serves me right for not moving my lazy butt to get take out. that being said, i ordered the goat cheese panino and mixed green salad.... not rocket science. when my order arrive 40 MINUTES later (again i live around the corner) my sandwich was soggy, limp, flacid....tasted great but non-crisp bread defeats the purpose of a panino in my humble opinion. i was very hungry so maybe i'm a little extra bitter about the debacle.

    Better on Paper

Great menu but the food was just ok. Grilled Octopus appetizer did not taste like it was freshly grilled... may have just been overcooked, but either way the consistency of it was definitely not right. The pasta special also sounded great on paper, but was very bland AND the pasta was not al dente. My wife got the ravioli which were ok, while she did enjoy her Tomato soup. In all, this place is just not worth the $.

    Total Failure

Ordered takeout this evening - Fusilli with Pesto, Tomatoes, and Olives and eggshells! Clearly was not expecting that last ingredient. Called the Restaurant for a refund and they acted like I was making it up. In fact, they sent the delivery man back to pick it up. I am a vegetarian and don't eat eggs. Also, can't help but wonder how trash, what I am presuming the egg shells are, ended up in my food. Considering the price and the hassle, try elsewhere in Tribeca. Management gave me a refund but didn't seem phased.
