If you like to eat good food don't go there

I love jazz, so I thought it is gonna be my place to go week after week. I also love food and very fortunate to know very well restaurants around town. The place itself is great, the music is good and pretty much that's all. The staff is totally mismanaged and unprofessional the food what I choose was really poor... I mean when was the last time, when you are out of fine dining and the waitress is bend down to your table really close to your face? When I was there (weekday) it wasn't crowded at all, and it was just sad to see 5 wait staff + 2 busboy running around, nobody asked me how is my food and I was sitting there during the entire meal (about 40 minutes) without anyone asking: would I like to have another drink...The waitstaff is acting very disturbing I mean they should not there to running around with nose high not even looking left or right or standing and giggling with there co-worker with their hands behind them, overlooking guests...There should provide service, that is their job...Do not expect the food on your plate gonna match with description on the menu. When I left the place in that very unpleasant evening I knew it I will never go again. Farewell jazz on UES!

    The definition of average

While the service was good, every thing else was average. It seems like they are running the place on a shoe string. The fries tasted of overused frying oil and while they had the apple pie they were out of the vanilla ice cream! Really? I almost feel bad criticizing them because they were nice and on the Saturday night had a Jazz band playing (nice band) however I am pretty certain I will not go again. In the area there are better brasserie style choices.

    Great meal

Just went there last night with a friend and we had a fantastic dinner. I was surprised to read some of the other reviews. The food was excellent (best soft shelled crab I've ever had, and the duck appetizers were delicious), and the wait staff were friendly and helpful. I plan on going back.

    Do not do brunch

For the first time ever, I literally opted to pay ZERO TIP. The smallest eggs benedict Ive ever had the disfortune of paying for (and more expensive than what it usually costs at much nicer places too) and it was so unappetizing thati had to send it back!! Ive done that only once before so this is not something common. It was that bad. Then I order an omlet and it was even worse! Did the lid fall off the salt shaker while you were putting what was supposed to be a pinch of salt? I couldnt even eat the whole thing, I stopped half-way. The only good thing on my plate was the unfresh fruit. Then, after we asked a waittress for our bill, she completely ignored it. Twenty mins later we finally track down the original waittress and ask for our check. She forgot to switch out the dish (and the second one was less expensive). And just to top it off, they thought it would be endearing to serve our check on a platter which was an advertising for some singer and ALSO to cap it off with another mini-advertising. Just what I want with my bill. Didn't even have a cappuccino machine.

    In search of: our waitress

I think the food's pretty good, and I like the warm atmosphere. The problem is, at least when we were there for brunch, one waitress served the entire restaurant. Not only that, she also was the bartender. I hesitate to go back, but if you go, check to see whether they've hired anyone to work there.

    It's interesting....

Went there a couple of months ago with some friends. The restaurant is very beautiful but the food is BLAND.Nothing really pops out in your mouth.More like a belly filler.Waiters were great. If you are going to go here enoy the atmospher and the desserts best thing! yumm
