    My new burger joint!!!!

I have devoured all of the "top" NYC burgers. This place is totally flying under the radar. Sat at the bar last Thursday night, comfortable place to go solo, ate the best burger of my life (try the bison burger with the works), and then closed out with a masterfully made martini. Awesome bartender. Great jazz. Killer burger/fries. I'll be back!!!!!

    Great

Great neighborhood restaurant. My filet mignon was delicious. They also have very good drinks. It's a fun atmosphere for dinner or drinks.

    Disappointing service

The service is absolutely disappointing. It was obvious that the service was slow on a night that was not busy but that was the least of it. The waiter did not understand the original order and then rudely corrected us. When we asked to see the menu to clarify, he sent his manager to our table. We will never dine there again

OK But Not Worth the Price

Brasserie Julien is pretty, romantic and not too stuffy. Service is friendly but they get a little overwhelmed later in the evening as the place gets more crowded. The back is roomier and the live music won't be so loud. Appetizer specials were interesting and delicious. Unfortunately, we had to send both entrees back - one was way too raw and the other inedibly chewy. Both were fixed/replaced with no attitude but it was still aggravating. Dessert was the chocolate offering but it was a complete disappointment - tiny and average tasting. Overall the place is too pricey for what you get and there are too many other choices to go back to this one.

    Pretty subpar

The food was decent, and the Short Ribs special was dry and tough. The spinach I got with my dinner was cold (not on purpose). Waiter tried to take order before he brought menus. The place is relaxed with a long bar so I would go and just get a beer.

    a great neighborhood place

I go here a few times a month and really enjoy it. Thursday, Friday and Saturday they have a jazz duo playing. The bar is a great place to stop by, have a drink and listen to music. The food and service is good and the unlimited mussels are a bargain. The hanger steak is very good. And the price-fix meals are a deal. The entire staff is very friendly.

    very disappointing

My wife and I stopped here after going to the Met Museum. Looked like fun with a big crowd, a bar, attactive decor and a guitarist. Service was pleasant, but when the food came it was not good at all. We ordered one of their specialty drinks, which sounded so tasty from the description but basically had no taste at all--like watered down alcohol. The banana crepe was half hot and half cold, as if it was put in the microwave and for too short a time. The banana pieces were hard and tasteless, as if the banana wasn't ripe and the supposed whip cream tasted like spoiled cheese. It was really shocking, as if there's no chef in the kitchen. We did enjoy the guitartist tho.
