    Good find.

I was surprised to see that Kyma had not closed but had changed to Brasserie Athenee. So I decided to check it out. WE went for pre matinee lunch on a saturday. Hostess at the door was very sweet and sat us at a window table. The place got packed very soon.I saw the girl who used to work at Kyma immediately and she was as always a sweetheart! She knew exactly what to suggest based on our taste buds of the day!!The food was great, big omelettes, great sandwhiches, and the greek plates wonderful. Overall I like the new decor but I was told by our waitress that it looks even better at night time. Plan on coming back!

    I've had better

So I decided to take my partner out for a nice dinner at a nice French restaurant that wasn't too expensive, looked some up and found this place, menu looked good and he has been wanting to try Coq au vin and I Escargots. So we went and were immediately seated by the hostess who was friendly. We were given our bread and then waited about 20 min or so before we had to ASK to be served, and we were sitting next to the computer where they get the bills, everyone after us was waited on first and then the waitress said, Oh I guess I can help you. After the food arrived after about 45 min, without the appetizer, we started eating, the Steak Frites were just that, nothing special, steak and fries, the Coq Au Vin was fall off the bone good. The only thing they did not mention was the mashed potatoes had olives pureed in them, and we are not fans, he couldn't taste them, but I definatly could, and they AREN'T a good combo. The bill came to $82, not terrible for wine, apps, and two meals, but I could have had a better meal with faster service somewhere else.

    Good find!

I usually don't take the time or effort to come online to rate restaurants, but I think this one is in need of a good review. upon reading mixed reviews about brasserie Athennee, we decided to take a shot at it. Good thing I don't get influenced by bad reviews. THIS PLACE IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! To begin with the food prices are cheap so why not?I had the coq au vin, which literally fell right off the bone, and my friend the enormous juicy burger. Both wonderful paired with their nice red greek wine. WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE? Ill be coming back! ps. service was great, and the place is beautiful!

the good, the bad, and the ugly!

I have been to Brasserie Athenee twice. The first time was with wife for a nice relaxing dinner after theatre and the next was with my sis for a pretheatre "madness" dinner. Both times seated by different people, a man and then a lady. the lady was very very sweet but the man was the whole time at the computer looking at soccer pics and movies. I found that a little bit rude. Other than that, the food was simply wonderful!! I had the burger and my two guests had the salmon and lamb chops respectively. our waitress both times was a greek girl with a lof of life! very important for a pleasant experience! She recommended the mediterranean tapas and was THE BEST!! I worked in the restaurant business all my life theres a time for play and a time for work. the guy should know that. We will definitely come back!!

    Very good find

We were greeted with a smile by the staff and sat a nice table by the window (great people watching seat). My husband and I came to Brasserie Athenee for lunch before a 2pm show. I had the lamb cubes which was very delightful and was cooked to perfection. My husband had the muscles and fries which was also tasty. The portions are rather generous for the price which was great. The service, too, was great. Our server was very nice and very entertaining. I will definitely be returning.

With so many worthy places, why this one?

Bad service Phony "Greek - French" mix Pretentious and to be avoided. One positive" when beef tasted bad, item properly replaced. But that is no reason to go. These efforts at cosmopolitan menus are best avoided.

Not all its cracked up to be

Rest. is very nice. Hostess and waitress were friendly. Seated immediately at window table. Fr calamair was good so we were all excited about the dinner. I don't like when they serve wine in a stemless glass, but the wine was tasty. Steak/fries that my husband had was mediocre. I had sweetbreads, which would have been a treat for me since most rest. dont make them. They too were so so. Bill was $72 for mediocre food. Will not return to this rest. There are many others in NYC that are much better for similar cost
