    amazing

Went here for dessert and did not know MArtin Howard was the dessert chef. Got the chocolate bento box which was outstanding and we felt, UNDERpriced for what you got. The waitstaff was unbelievably courteous and truly wanted us to enjoy our experience. Another plus is that they do a restaurant week menu ($35 for dinner : app/main/dessert) all summer long...including weekends! Will definitely go back.

    One of my top 5

My husband and I went here for Restaurant Week and ended up ordering of the traditional menu as everything looked so good. I truly enjoyed my meal, however my husband who has been a chef for 14 years constantly raves that this was one of the best meals he has ever had. The portions, for a French Restaurant, are actually a decent size. Make sure you try the Bento Box for dessert, it is definately something to see!

Extremely good service, food is average.

This was one of the best services I've had in New York. I was treated exceptionally well, the waiter was very attentive to our table and the atmosphere was great. The food wasn't so spectacular...I would come back, but not for the food in particular. It's a good place to go on a date if you're looking for good atmosphere and very professional service.

    Always the best

This hidden French restaurant has the best angel hair pasta imaginable. It is homemade and extra fine like a mini linguine. Very delicious. Everything there is always excellent. I have been there for Christmas Dinner, Valentine's Dinner, regular meals, Restaurant Week, etc... It is expensive and the portions are not huge, but then again, French food is heavy and should not be gorged on like American food. I really like the atmosphere of this restaurant, and the bar is even a nice place to have a light meal. There is also a comfortable lounge for drinks and hors d'oeurves.

    restaurant week

went here for restaurant week and was very happy overall with my meal as was my girlfriend. I didn't think that the portions were small ... although I guess if you compare them to a regular restaurant yeah they are a little small, but to me restaurant portions always seem a little large anyway. all in all I am going to come back here again to try the regular menu.

    how disappointing!

I wanted to take my Fiance to a nice dinner and we choosed Brasserie 8 1/2. We both love french food and were very disappointed. This was far from french and far from good. If it wasn't for the bread, we would have left hungry. Bland food, tiny portions, and very expensive! The atmosphere was nice. Oh and another thing- I ordered a martini (which tasted great), but it was in a glass that was smaller than a champagne glass. If you come here- expect small portions, bad taste, small drinks, for a big price! Now I know why it was empty!

    The Perfect Evening

Yes, it's true- this place is rather empty on weekend nights, not sure why. The tuna, salmon, steak and goat cheese fritters were amazing. The service was incredible and the atmosphere was truly romantic. We loved the whole dining experience!
