    Bad Experience

Horrible experience here for brunch today. Should've known what to expect as it was nearly empty when we walked inside. The food was average, the portions were extremely small (think children's menu), and the waiter was pathetic. He barely spoke to us and you needed a flare gun to get his attention. There are plenty of great restaurants in the neighborhood worthy of your patronage, don't waste your time and money here.

creative and quailty food in an ordinary no frills setting

Braeburn certainly caters to the sophisticated pallet. With delicious appetizers such as a panko crusted poached farm egg and peeky toe crab raviolis, the meal starts off with a lead-off home run. The entrees certainly leave you with a sour taste as it's simplicity and taste are overshadowed by the prior course. The wine menu offers a nice variety by the bottle, but it's slim pickings by the glass. It's a good meal, but for the budget conscious this may not be the best choice. Just too many (better) restaurants to explore in the area.

    No, No, No

Came here with another couple and had quite possibly the creepeiest waiter in NYC. Belched in the middle of taking our orders. Kept his hand INSIDE the front of his pants while talking to us and he was completely disinterested. Too many othe good restaurants in this town to give your money to. Go elsewhere.

    Ok food. That's it.

Went there for dinner hoping to find a neighborhood gem. All sorts of trouble about getting a reservation, and then showed up and tables were empty and stayed empty the entire time we were there. (Saturday night.) Food was ok. Sounded great on the menu, tasted fine in the execution. I felt my whole dinner needed salt. Desserts seemed almost stale. Almond cake tasted so dried out, like Thursday's baked goods. Donuts were good, but not great. My skate was perfectly cooked, but the sauce of mussels and broth was bland. My poached egg tasted like a poached egg. But nothing more. Oh well. Maybe I am too jaded to eat out anymore because I am so rarely impressed. A generally pleasant experience, and my dining companions seemed to enjoy their meal. The vegetarian plate was a refugee camp sized portion, so beware you herbivores.

    Excellent addition to the neighborhood!

We had a wonderful experience here last night for a birthday party of 9. Because it was a Monday night, it wasn't too crowded in the back room. The atmosphere was perfect for us, and the waiters were attentive. Some ordered the $30 prix fixe "comfort food" menu, others from the main menu, either two appetizers or a main course. Standouts were the pork tenderloin with red sauerkraut, pasta with rabbit, chicken soup, fried cauliflower, brussel sprouts, but I think everything was well prepared and tasty. Didn't try the chocolate bread pudding, but the fried donut holes with honey sauce were incredible. Only slight complaint was that the ice cream in the sundae was a bit melted by the time they served it.

    sophisticated and unpretentious

This restaurant is a wonderful new addition to the neighborhood -- it's warm and unpretentious while serving very sophisticated and imaginative food. I especially loved the trout and crab appetizers, and the bread pudding dessert was amazing! The service attentive, while still maintaining a relaxed atmosphere. It's a great place to have a special meal.

    Fabulous food

This is a great spot in the Village - that rare combination of really good market cuisine served with genuine warmth and no pretentiousness, and a thoughtful, interesting and affordable wine list. The desserts are out of this world and are matched by very good coffee. The entrées could be a little more adventurous, but overall, such good food deserves a relaxing atmosphere and the Braeburn still needs to perfect that. Noise levels are a little high, with sometimes questionable taste in music. Once these things are fixed, this place has the potential to become a great neighborhood spot worth leaving your neighborhood for. The reasonably priced regular daily features (of the comfort food variety) are also a great idea. Looking forward to more meals here.
