    Shocked

Good location...good concept...successful team...okay design...can't believe how far off the mark they are with prices and quality of food. Some stuff is good, some stuff is bad...but taking into account the prices its shocking they missed the mark so egregiously. Lots of competition in the area now so its not as depressing as before. Was excited. Not anymore.

I'm really surprised this food is from Mathieu Palombino

You don't have to pay this kind of money to eat such average food. I'm really surprised that this food is from Mathieu Palombino. Didn't believe the review posted here and decided to try anyway. It was 6 of us. We had all kind of food. Starting from soup to burgers to lobster roll. Everything tasted very average at the best. The onion soup was really poor. Just a piece of bread with cheese on it with a very sour tasting onions. Anyway, don't eat here.

    Great food, great time

had an amazing experience tonight-- the food was delicious (check out the calamari, the sandwiches and the raw bar), service is top-notch (esp for a "diner") and the atmosphere is fun and light. great prices, too, for such high quality. loving the contrast between the traditional diner food with more fine dining options. will definitely go back.

    Big disappointment

We've been looking forward to trying this diner for months as it struggled to open but oh dear, what an anticlimax. We went for brunch and although half the restaurant was empty we were told it was a half hour wait due to kitchen limitations. Eager to try the place we put our names down. Once inside the setting was sterile and uncomfortable and sitting on an aisle we felt like we were part of a thoroughfare that led to the kitchen. The service was slow and confused: one of the waiters did three circuits of the restaurant with our shakes before finally managing to deposit them at the right table. We ordered grilled cheese with bacon - extremely dry and disappointing with soggy fries to compliment.. How hard is it to screw up cheese, bacon and bread?? Also ordered the bacon and scallion omelette. Fine but just an ordinary omelette. The hash browns that accompanied were dripping in oil. Again, unimpressed. The best part of the meal was the shakes although these were overly sweet - chocolate and also caramel - and basic shakes and cost $7.50! Er, Tarantino eat your heart out. Is there fairy dust in a shake that costs that in a diner? Clearly not in the ones we ordered. To sum up, go to one of the other countless brunch places in the city or even one of the others in the area.
