I had dinner there on Valentine's Day 2/14/13. It was the worst meal in two years in NYC. I am a real foodie, like to travel abroad to enjoy fine dining. I thought Sud Boulud might be as good as Cafe Boulud. Unfortunately, Cafe Boulud is much much better. I had shriump for appetizer, it was ok and I had Venision for main course. It was dry and overcooked. I had "MILLE ET UNE NUITS Layers of Pastries, Tropezienne Cream, Calamondin Confit, Medjool Gelato" for desert. The flaky pastry tasted stale with a funny greasy taste and cream was tastelss without any sugar or flavoring. It was the biggest rip-off considering these 3-course meal cost $95 dollar/per person for Valentine's day. The only thing decent that night was the service. Sud Boulud's menu is in French, however, it serves Mediterranean style of food. But, regardless what style of food it serves, it was a true disppointing experience. With the same amount of money spent, I could have had much much better meal at Picholine of A voce.

Dine Much Farther South
Mediocre and overpriced. Service without attention to details. Underserving to be a part of Daniel Boulud's restaurant empire. Comepletely disppointing and unsatisfying. Avoid it.

Perfection
The food was amazing. The service impeccable. The atmosphere relaxed. Favorite upscale on the UWS.

Appetizers forever!
went to lunch...excellent...but dinner FABULOUS! We shared appetizers, flatbread, artichoke shrimp, duck rilletes, tapenade, whatever. Each one was perfect and totally different. The service was watchful and not obtrusive.I wish wine was just a little less, but you do get what you pay for. It is our favorite place ever! Wish we were richer, but it's a great treat.

Dont go for lunch
Maybe it's better at dinner time, but at lunch this is overpriced and understaffed. What a disappointment! I love all of Daniel's other restaurants but this one had a limited menu of too-big plates. We patched together meals from appetizers and sides, clearly disappointing the condescending waitress. It wasn't the cost: it was the wish not to be overfed at 1 pm. Anything good? A Greek salad; some farro and mushrooms. As I said, we pieced together small meals.

Excellent
Wonderful food. Fresh ingredients handled in an inventive way. Only complaints: they could be better at dealing with gluten allergies and the when I ordered a "dirty martini, no vermouth" the waiter started arguing with me that what I really wanted was vodka with olive juice. And I was on a business dinner so it was embarrassing.

Fine dining near Lincoln Center
At last! Lincoln Center has long been a desert within the UWS Sahara: places to eat before one rushes off to the ballet, opera etc. But there have never been any truly excellent "destination" restaurants in the locale. Daniel Boulud has been doing his best to change that: Bar Boulud first, then Epicerie Boulud. Boulud Sud is his finest hour, by far. Our dinner last night was close to perfect (if you don't count a really hefty bill at the end). First, the food: my charred squid appetizer, stuffed with vegetables and served with a slightly spicy tomato sauce, was really tasty. But my saffron linguini with thinly sliced razor clams, dandelion greens and bottarga, was sublime: some of the best pasta I have ever tasted. My friend's mussels with harissa appetizer was wonderfully spicy (although the dish was quite small), and her quail wrapped in pancetta was luscious. And then the "atmosphere": the place is pretty, and the tables are very well-spaced; as a result, the noise level, even when the place is packed, is completely bearable. The service is knowledgeable and attentive. This isn't just a place to "eat" when you are going to a Lincoln Center event; it is a restaurant to look forward to as much as the event itself. HIGHLY recommended.
