    False Advertising

I was actually looking forward to coming here. The space itself is really nice and open. The staff on the other hand were less than cordial, and would actually compel me to bypass this place in favor of the many other lounges in the area. Furthermore, the owners of Boucarou apparently feel that false advertising is an acceptable business practice to bring in customers. On their website and on flyers that they hand out, they clearly promote "a complimentary open bar (FREE) from 9pm to 10pm" every Wednesday... which is a lie. My friend and I went to check this out last Wednesday, and we were immediately told that the free open bar was conveniently not happening that night. However, we were informed that we could pay $25 for their bar special instead. A very shady case of bait 'n switch. Both the bartender and the hostess were incredibly condescending making it seem like I was the one who made a mistake and read the wrong promotion. This was even the case after I politely pointed out a flyer that they visibly had in the bar. I still don't understand why a place that was practically empty at 9pm would be so deceitful and rude to customers who simply want to enjoy a nice evening in the East Village. Oh... I should also point out that the only form of air conditioning that they had when we were there was a large fan over the bar. The place was boiling hot. Boucarou definitely failed my expectation. I wouldn't believe any promises or promotions they make after this experience.

    Never again

We went there with a group of around a dozen friends for a farewell party with fixed price menu. Things went wrong from the beginning because they understood that we wanted the more expensive menu and not the cheaper one. So, they wanted to charge us around much more for this reason. After arguing with the manager during half of the dinner, things ended fine. Obviously, this spoiled the entire dinner and it was a bitter farewell. Moreover, at a certain time the music gets louder and it´s impossible to talk.

Very disappointed after 7 years in NYC!!

Took a date here on a friday night. Thought it would be a sexy place. Couldn't have been more wrong -- unless cheesy loud rap music and cardboard-tasting food are your thing. Waitress was rude, seats were torn up from clubbing, and it got really crowded with what looked like trashy 18 year olds as the night went on. What a waste.

Worst place I have ever been to

Went to this overly expensive "lounge" with a group to celebrate my friend's birthday. We have no problem paying for service, but this place was ridiculous. We were promised a table and bottle service. No space for the table but they managed to squished us in. "Service" consisted of the staff literally not saying a word but pushing us out of their way every time they wanted to bring more OJ etc. Bottle was obviously watered down, no question. Charged us a corking fee then told us we couldn't take the bottle and they couldn't remove the charge. Manager decided to try to do the right thing and comped us another bottle and put us in the VIP room. Owner out of nowhere physically grabbed my friend and yelled at her telling her she had no right to be in there, and tried to take both bottles. After we tried to explain the Manager put us in there he proceeded to continue yelling and cursing at us and tried to physically push her out of the room. One staff member lied saying he was a NYC detective and told us we better not cause any problems or say anything to anyone. One thing after the next with this place, I couldn't believe it. I was hoping it was a bad dream.

    Cool atmosphere, delicious food

Went to Boucarou recently and had a really fantastic time. The atmosphere was really unique and trendy and the food was delightful. Full sushi menu mixed with some great entrees and a fresh cocktail menu offered many choices for my large group of friends. Our waitress was great and really accomodating! Will definitely be going back!

    rude, not worth the time

The service is very rude. It is way overpriced. Crowd is just ok. The only upside: I thought the atmosphere was cool. I won't go here again.
