The octopus appetizer was very good, but the spaghettini with clams was shameful. First, it was overcooked spaghetti, not spaghettini. Second, it had no taste -- no taste whatsoever. None, nada, gurnisht! Verging on a criminal act to serve the dish. The parrot is dead! It is a gone parrot. No life left. Bereft of taste. This parrot will not come back to life. We had pizza elsewhere after a supposedly full meal here. Bland, bleh, white bread.

My family and I celebrated a big birthday event for 40 at Bottino's and were positively thrilled with the venue, food and service. The lovely dining room overflowing onto the private courtyard was a huge hit with the guests. We loved the impeccable service by Rafael and his servers. The food was wonderful and guests lingered for hours with many wanting to know how we found this gem in Chelsea. Thank you!

Overall, fairly disappointed with experience at Bottino. Was excited for meal as the restaurant came highly recommended. However, was underwhelmed by the food, drinks and service - was in a group of 6 and the view was consistent among our table. Specifically about the cuisine, we ordered: Tuna Tartare, not a traditional tuna tartare; better viewed as a chopped tuna sashimi salad with cucumber and soy; that being said, was pretty good and likely the best dish tried. Beet salad: beets were ok but small portion/few beets with a slab of unappetizing cheese. Fennel and Arugula Salad, ok but somewhat boring. Chilean Sea Bass (a special), included a tiny portion of fish along with heap of mashed (or nearly liquefied) potatoes; fish was oversalted and somewhat dry. Branzini (a special), ok but uninspired and completely forgettable. Rigatoni, reminded me (look and taste) of a public school cafeteria pasta dish; Where is the eggplant? Waiter said in the sauce which could have passed for plain Prego (with extra salt). Dessert was the highlight of the meal: Bread Pudding was fairly good and Tart special also decent. We also tried a few of the specialty drinks which were a complete failure: the Spicy Grapefruit Margarita was neither spicy nor did it contain any grapefruit flavor. The Martini was equally poor. They also ran out of ingredients for a dark and stormy - not successful planning for a Friday night. In terms of service, the waiter seemed completely uninterested and came to our table the bare minimum (did not come by to check on main meal until we flagged him down half way through). Also, the location of the coat check is annoying and creates a glut of patrons at the door. Otherwise, the ambience was welcoming and understated but also a bit boring. Overall, disappointed in our experience and will not be returning.

Went tonight for a business dinner in a group of six. Our waiter could not have cared less we were there or about helping us have a nice evening. Had a condescending attitude that made me want to slap him. As other reviewers have commented, courses were rushed and salads came out so quickly I can only assume they were plated in advance and ready to go. Bussers swooped in to clear plates as soon as each person finished -- a move I truly despise and one better suited for a Chili's. Group got wide variety of menu items; no one had anything particularly enthusiastic to say. I won't be back and recommend you stay clear too. Plenty of Italian in this city with people who pretend to be more honored to take your money.

I order a salad almost every day for lunch from here. No matter what time I call, they move quick, and are here in record time. The ingredients always taste fresh and the staff is incredibly efficient. I have never been disappointed with this restaurant.

We had a surprised b'day dinner party on 12.17.11 & it was a success. Danny made it financially possible, Lauren & the staff helped make it memorable. The guests had fun. They loved the atmosphere and the service. Thank you Bottino for a wonderful night. Happy Holidays!!

Dear all, I would like to revisit my last post about this restaurant, after the Valentines's Day rushed dinner. My Husband and I waited a couple of weeks and gave Bottino another try. After all the food was excellent. I'm so glad we went back. Again the food was excellent and the service superb. The atmosphere was just right. We enjoyed everything about this little hideaway on 10th avenue in Chelsea. If you don't live in the neighborhood, it's worth the trip. Ignore my last post, as that night seems to have been an just act of over effiency. Go and enjoy!
