poor bar area service
Not warm and spanish like. Normally Spanish restaurants are inviting. This place acts like its a priveledge for guests to come there, not the other way around. The waiter then assumes anyone at the bar stopped area assumes the worst and that you are not going to order food with your drink, by asking " are you going to order food?" Just so negative and again not service oriented and doing anything he can to keep you there. The albondigas, meatball special: 4 in a ramakin which can easily hold 8-15; looked cheap and like someone already ate half your dish before it got to you ! We would not go back.

very good
There are a lot of things I liked about this place and only a few I didn't, after two visits. One very rude server, everyone else very proficient and nice. Everything on the menu is a good find and in my opinion fairly priced. The brandade and dates are amazing, and the paella looked fabulous. I love the atmosphere, it has a nice buzz without being overwhelming or uncomfortable. My only criticism in the wine recommended by the bartender was just awful and over $50, while over half the menu is made up of bottles under $50. And, can any restaurant resist the temptation to completely rip people off on sangria? I mean $40 for a pticher of carlo rossi, and ice??? If something on your menu doesn't have value either through ingredients, or preparation, or availability, or ideally a combination of the three, then don't overcharge for it. Especially when people are willing to pay ten dollars for an appetizer of dehydrated cod.

food was great,,, hostess not
Went for a low key night with a date. The setting was romantic and ideal for the mood we were in. We came at 9 and were put on the list for a supposed 30 minute wait. It ended up being an 1 hour and a half. The hostess was dreamy eyed with every young suit and kept seating them before us, at a point it was almost funny to watch her in action. When we were finally seated the waitress was great as well as the rest of the staff, and the dates, patatas bravas, shrimp, and quail egg were amazing. Would go back again for the crowded yet cozy environment, however please replace your hostess!

excellent food
I went here last night with 3 friends. Unfortunately, there was a 45 minute wait but we decided to hang around anways, and we're glad we did. The food, especially the paella, was well worth the wait. Service was very well informed and cordial.

Amazing night!
I can't believe I'm reading that people have had poor service here...we had a excellent food and service! My fiance is a chef and I work in the hospitality industry as well, so we are pretty harsh critics. We were very pleasantly surprised with the warmth and professionalism of the staff even on a very busy Saturday night. Each dish that we ordered was better than the next...and very authentic! I have spent time in Spain and felt nostalgic :) Our server paired wine with our meal, and we were especially delighted with our wine and cheese pairing. We will definitely be back...hopefully soon!

Poor Service
The first time I went to Boqueria, the dishes were amazing but when I went back a second time, the service and food were poor The bacon around the dates were charred beyond recognition and our croquettes were cold in the middle. Our waiter was rude with a huge attitude problem. Don't even think about asking a simple question about the menu, the waiters could care less about it.

Go on date here and get the dates...YUM!
Went there last night on a double date. There was quite a wait but there was space available at the bar...so we sat & ate there. The bartender, Emily, was fabulous. Everything she recommended was spot on...from the wine to tapas. And speaking of the tapas...yummy...especially the dates. They are to die for. I mean, how could you go wrong with a date stuffed with cheese and wrapped in perfectly crispy bacon??? Definitely recommend.
