    Not that good.

I went to Bocqueria for dinner last night and although the service was great, the food was not. We had the salt cod on toast, the blistered peppers, the lentils with chorizo & truffles, the patatas bravas, and the smoked sardines. The cod looked and tasted like it had been sitting on a warming plate for too long, the blistered peppers were bland, the lentils with completely undercooked, the potatoes were ok but not crispy (which is kind of the whole point of patatas bravas), and the sardines (which were the best item we had) were served weirdly on a puree of white beans with an herbed crouton, giving me a really out of place Thanksgiving sensation. A fun place, as long as you aren't expecting to be knocked out by the food.

Excellent! Can't wait to go back.

I went to Boqueria for the 1st time today during lunch. The experience was great, place is clean, service was good and prices are fair. I HIGHLY recommend the brussel sprouts with chorizo - VERY TASTY. Tapas came out quickly and have no complaints on service - will definitely be going back.

    LOUD!!

The food was good and so was the service. The portions were small though and the wine list was limited and pricey. I went with friends and we were not able to speak to each other until we left the restaurant. Not worth it!

What is going wrong - food downhill

I have been a regular at Bouq for almost 3 years now and I am repeatedly disappointed over some recent visits. The food has become more salty in general. My favorite cheese platter went on a diet and it barely seems enough for even 2 people to try, forget about more. That is true for portions of all dishes in general. The sangria has become more sugary and watery, esp repeatedly disappointed with the White Sangria. The last 2 times I ordered bottles of wine, one was corked each time. If you are seated at a table in the front while they have your name on the table at the back, they wont shift you unless you request repeatedly because your silver, food, drinks are falling off the tiny tables in the front area. Wait staff is eager to recommend specials which are not listed in as much detail on the printed menu but forgets to mention they are mostly entree style dishes rather than tapas. Imagine 4 of us looking at the lone scallop and looking at each other. And there were 5 such dishes that we ended up ordering at the staff reco, each inept for sharing. The space is boisterous, has an easy vibe, which I like a lot. Service is good, although wait staff can be shall we say umm, slightly on the flirtatious side. Not the best reason to drop some non trivial money on a night of drinking and food.

    Yummy food, good service

LOVED this place! The hostess was extremely nice and seemed genuinely concerned about finding us a table. Then out waitress was very nice and helpful...didn't pressure or wasn't pushy at all (which I tend to find a lot in NYC restaurants.) When we got the check, they had over-charged us for a special that we had ordered, so when we told them about it, they just took the whole thing off the check! The food was great...and so was the service. Everything came out really fast. The wine was just ehh and it was a little loud, but an overall great experience!
