50's and 60's style with huge drinks

I came for the lobster rolls I heard so much about and love it. I have been around the city I find it the second best I have tried. The drinks are not cheap but they are strong. I would go there night after night if I could drink that much....

Would be solid if not overpriced

The atmosphere is mod living room. May work for some but I didn't find it particularly comfortable and it can be fairly cramped - Aside from the bar, the place only seats 3-4 parties. I would say that the lobster roll was fantastic if not for the price - I feel compelled instead to say it's some nice chunks of lobster in a buttered hot dog bun for 24 bucks. Service is friendly and quick but the place doesn't earn it's keep.

    Poor quality

We found the "cozy" atmosphere here more dingy than kitschy. The furniture is sad and poor quality, with tears in the vinyl of old chairs. The food itself was not bad, but I was shocked to see some of the produce we were served - especially brown and speckled avocados. Lastly, we were distracted by the direct view into the kitchen, which looked more like an overcrowded office / store closet than a hygienic place where food is prepared. If you eat here, sit at the bar, which looked like the brightest area in the restaurant.

    Lobster, Oysters, and Great Cocktails

The lobster rolls are hands down the best in the city. The oysters are fresh and yummy. The service is downright homey. I felt like I was visiting a friends house. I had a great time and found it hard to leave. Can't wait to go back.

    Oysterific

Words can't explain how great this place is.If you love oysters then you've come to the right place.the selection is terrific. If you want a killer drink then you've got the right place. Order the LOBSTER ROLL and you won't be sorry.you just may order it again and again. What's nice is that the owners take personal care of you, What a great place to go early late or any time. Can't wait to go back.

    My second living room...

I've been to Bongo many times over the years and have always had a great time. They do have the best Lobster Rolls in the city(as reviewed in the New Yorker). Killer drinks and cool mid-century furniture. Great mix of fun funky people. Even the music is fun and funky. I always take visitors when in town--it's the party room I don't have in my tiny NYC apt.

    A Gem in West Chelsea

Great drinks, unbelieveable lobster rolls, the freshest, sweetest oysters, and cole slaw to die for. Is this heaven, or what! Don't miss the vodka margaritas - fantastic!
