Good food, but not great Japanese/sushi. The maki and sushi here were average. Had shiriyaki sushi at Sushi Yasuda (excellent, high quality btw) the night before, and the one here was just a complete joke. The eel was not the right temp...seemed too cold. The Hot Dice Eel was just OK. The pork belly dish here is nothing special. Had a dessert (banana dim sum) and appetizer that were great, luckily. Tab was over 200 for two people, which is ridiculous for what I thought it would be...fine sushi. Instead, it was a contemporary restaurant that happens to "try" to serve contemporary sushi/Japanese. Nice space/ambience...probably better to go to this place just to lounge (full menu available), but not for a mult-course dinner.

I've been to Bond St numerous times over the past few years. At first, I loved this place. I would take family, friends, and clients to Bond St because it WAS a consistently outstanding experience. The last 3 times, however, have been real disappointments. The food is served cold, the presentation has become sloppy and the waitresses become overtly irritated with anyone not familiar with the restaurant. It is thoroughly embarassing to have your guests treated that way. While the food can be great, it's no longer worth it.

The food here is pricey!! But it can be very good, elegant and imaginative, epecially the dipping sauces that accompany the appetizers. That said, you would expect to certain level of care and consideration. This was not he case on a recent visit when we were served a severely undercooked shrimp appetizer, that was essentially raw, and inedible with unappetizing taste and slimy texture. We both spit it out. The table next to us has the same dish and it was cooked and fine. So this was obvioulsy an oversight in the kitchen. We weren't charged for it, but nothing was done to accommade us for this extremely unpleasant experience! No apology, no complimentary drinks, nothing! Ruined the entire dining experience!! This restaurant should know better.

The food was amazing & the serivce was excellent. It can be pricey but I believe it was worth it. The rolls/sashmi was awesome and sea bass was my favorite. Lastly chocolate meltdown was nice finishing touch. Despite all the bad reviews it was very nice experience. Will be back..

despite all the negative reviews it was acutally not that bad. went on a Friday evening. 7:30 reservation. We were seated promptly. Host was extremely polite and friendly. Ordered Hot Eel dice which was wonderful. Sea Bass which was wonderful too. the Exotic Sashimi and the Bond St Nigiri Special was totally not work 28th at all. WOuld have been better off just ordering more sushi rolls. Tuna Tataki was pretty pleasant though. Desserts were also the highlight. The Chocolate Meltdown was amazing.. they also had the most adorable plating for the Ice Cream and SOrbet assortment. Those were yummy and perfect portion.. small but just enough to satisfy ur sweet tooth. Atmosphere is romantic and a sophisticated crowd. Pear Cocktail was pleasantly nice too.. WIll def go back for more sushi rolls and seabass!!

I will give to bond st, maybe 8 years ago this place was hot but all i have to say now, is this place is NOT! Hot apps and sake were good , sushi was bland and not fresh. My sea bass was horrible, took one bite and pushed it away. Waiter did not even come over once to ask how the meal was! for the price, you most def should put this place on the do not pass go and take 250 for a dinner for 2. maybe after the fire they should have left this place alone!
