Great little Italian Restaurant
I went here a few weeks ago and it was truly a hidden gem. I was surprised to only find a few other couples in the place because the food was so delicious and at such a great price. The restaurant iteslf had a lot of charm - I really liked the setting. There is also a garden in the back that looks like it'd be great for warm weather. If you want great italian at a decent price then definitely stop by Bona Fides.

A great find
I have been here three times. Each experience was commendable. The food is excellent, atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff is helpful and the garden is lovely and quiet. In a city with lots of high-priced, loud, overrated restaurants, Bonafides is a real find. We plan to return again and again.

Excellent Place That No One Goes To
this was a excellent place that i went to. when i heard about it, i was looking for a reletively cheap place to go on date and this place is it. the atmostphere is very open and the seating and tables arangements are very comfortable. at night they dim the lights and play soft music from the speakers adding to the setting. the front is open and there is setting there but i would not recomend sitting there becasue the neighborhood isn't very pretty. the food was excellent evn though the serving size was slightly below average. the prices were great, the most dinner cost only $100 dollars for 5 people. the service was ok, the waiter took a bit long to serve but that was fine. overall this was an amazing place and i will definitely be going there again.

Best Italian Restaurant in N.Y.
We have been going here since it opened, we were in all our years of going, sometimes 2 times a week when we lived down town, only been disappointed 1 time. That was very early on and it was a Christmas day and who knows who was in the kitchen!

Not my favorite restaurant in the world but . . .
I've lived in the E. Village for almost 12 years now and I end up eating at Bona Fides at least once per year, maybe more in some years. The food is not stupendous and it is definitely not trendy, but there's something very comfortable about the place, even more so now that the neighborhood is full of the sort of restaurants that seek a lot of publicity and the tourists that seek out those sort of restaurants. The service has always been good, the lighting's not too bright, the music is never too loud, the other people in the restaurant aren't there to gawk at each other, the tables aren't packed together, and when you want basic Italian or Italian-American food this place hits the spot.
