    Little things count

How many times have you had to deal with those miserable mini plastic tubs of butter trying to get the bloody tin foil cover off? The butter at Bon Vivant comes in a decent sized paper cupcake shaped ramekin and it's cold, not half melted. But even better, the pancakes you put it on are fresh, hot and fluffy and very tasty. Whatever I order, the many lunches I have had here over the years have been quite good for a diner and honestly priced. The service is prompt and polite.

    Idisagree

I read the reviews and feel that the people who write are only those who are disatisfied. This place is close to the movie house and the Strand. The booths are comfortable to sit in, unlike the diner at 12th and University. The food is good for the price and - best of all - it is possible to conduct a conversation in this place. No background music, fairly good acoutics, and the food is good for diner food. They used to serve a great quiche but no longer do. I wish they would put it back on the menu. It was moist, ample in size, came with a salad and the best in the neighborhood.

    Wrong Order, Overcooked, but Quick

The food was not good. The omelet I got was missing the cheese and completely overcooked. Meanwhile, the fried that came with it were undercooked.

    Just subpar

My friend and I went to this place the other night for a cup of coffee and dessert. Well, my friend got some baklava. We had to wait for silverware - whch should've been a sign because the baklava had to be a month old. These people walked in after us, ordered on got their food before we got the coffee, yup we got desert before coffee. We figured maybe they were making a fresh pot. Nope. When we finally did get it, it was cold. Manhattan has some many more better restaurants to go to.

The wrong food arrived cold an hour late

I mean honestly....I ordered a simple Hot Open Turkey sandwich via the delivery.com service and everything went wrong. the delivery guy finally called 60+ minutes after I ordered and went to wrong address. but he called me to ask me to come "downstairs" because he said the buzzer was not working. I asked him if he was at right address, he assured me he was, when I trekked down 5 flights he was not there. Okay, language barriers, I'm sympathetic, I can let that slide. But the wrong food showed up, a cold turkey instead of a hot one. I ate it anyway, and it sucked. The turkey was bland and dry. There was no mayo or cranberry like I asked. It was on the wrong bread. The fries were cold. I called up the resty to tell them they made a mistake and they offered nothing but an apology for being so busy. I get that restys get busy, but if you are using a computer to have orders come in from customers, shouldn't that eliminate all the communication problems?

    Egg sandwich

I love a good egg sandwich once in awhile and I couldn't find a deli near where I work but I found this diner and ordered an egg sandwich with ham and cheese to-go. Kind of pricey, $4.25, as they charge you a dollar extra for everything you want. Not a bad sandwich and a very nice staff, but $4.25 for an egg sandwich? Next time I'll just make it at home.

    Decent food, great people

The definition of an adequate diner. Keep it simple - omelettes, burgers, etc. Very friendly staff makes you feel at home. One negative - the place seems kind of dirty...could use a makeover
