One of the Best Indian in NYC
I have been to many good Indian restaurants in NYC and London and Bombay Talkie stands up to the best. Noisy, crowded, busy and at peak times you will have to wait even with a reservation. It's worth it. Had chicken tikka masala, lamb meatballs, dal makhni, smoked eggplant, spicy garbanzo beans and all were wonderful. Best chutney/sauce selection I have seen and a must for Indian food lovers. I actually like the small portions, it allows you to try more dishes. Prices were very reasonable. Great cocktails at the bar. We will be going back!!

I beg to differ...
It seems that most people had negative experiences at Bombay Talkie, but I disagree. While I agree that the portions are miniscule, I thought the food was well prepared and presented, and the service helpful and good. Perhaps they're experiencing "growing pains" because they're a new restaurant? I, for one, am happy that there's a good Indian restaurant in my neighborhood.

They are understaffed and the staff they do have does not seem to know what they are doing. The menu had a misprint, no lights in the bathroom, overcharged on my bill, and it took a while for coffee. Really small portions. Food was good but not worth mentioning.

Good food admist poor service
The food at Bombay Talkie is very good, though the portions are small. The chicken masala is great and so is the fish. The service on the other hand and the management leave a lot to be desired.

Good food
Chelsea is lacking a good Indian restaurant - the food here was great, but the portions are tiny!

Don't bother trying this place- you'll be very disappointed. The service is poor and the food is below average. The street food concept is good, but the dishes are very poorly executed. The restaurant is totally disorganized and no one seems to know what's going on. We went when the restaurant was not busy at all and still the service was off. This place will not last.

On the contrary....
Is it happens I was dinning there on the aforementioned Wednesday night and feel a need to defend this newcomer from the previous reviewer's vicious attack. Not only did we have an excellent waiter but both the manager and the owner stopped by our table to make sure we were enjoying our dinner. The food was excellent. Try the five spice shrimp. And the specialty drinks will knock your socks off. The decor is hip, the lighting soft and the ambiance inviting. Overall, it's a great value. I haven't been to any hip place in the city where for under $35 (includes appetizer, entree, drink, and desert) per person, the owner will give the clientele personal attention.
