i ordered in for delivery...and the portions are TINY! i ordered the chicken tikka masala, extra spicy...watered down and NOT spicy at all. Ordered a side of raita that came in two little ketchup containers. never again.

Found this resto randomly on menupages and decided to try it. Came here around 8pm on a fri and got seated immediately (2 people) without reservations. Decor was cute/modern. The food...was actually pretty good! Surveying the scene, I thought the food might be westernized (aka-bland) but i said make it spicy, and it was perfect. Portions are smaller than usual indian restos but perfect so you don't leave feeling stuffed. The food was great and the drinks were even better. Would definitely go back.

i never write these things and always take them with a grain of salt but this was probably one of the oddest dining experiences that i've ever had. the service was subpar. i was with a group of five and the server brought the wrong dish to one of us and another had to wait an extra 20 minutes for the same chicken tika masala that someone else in our party had ordered. a couple of sides that we ordered didn't even show up but we got charged for them anyway and my drink order got screwed up then a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill (for a party of five?!) i typically tip about 20%+ but, honestly, this service deserved a discount if anything so a mandatory tip for a party of five seems ridiculous. i had the japanese eggplant entree, which was greasy, bitter, and tough but the sauce was very tasty and good. at $18 for three pieces of eggplant and some rice, it should have been much, much better. all this being said, the appetizers and cocktails were very good but i will never go back to this place.

Went to dinner last night at Bombay Talking for first time. We arrived at 10:00 pm. The restaurant hours state that they are open til 10:30. We were immediately told (upon ordering our drinks that the kitchen was closing). The Food was decent. Better than most Indian restaurants. But the service was awful. We were rushed through dinner. The waitress acted as if we were annoying her. if a restaurant advertises that they are open til 10:30, they should not rush their customers that arrive at 10:00. It was an unsatisfying experience.

I have to agree with the other reviews. The food is really delicately prepared for Indian food. Excellent. But when I ordered in, I was astonished by the small size of the portions! For those prices we should get a little more.

I found myself rather frightened by the reviews below regarding portion size. Clearly the people who made these comments are members of the group that are referred to in headlines such as, "Obesity Epidemic Taking America by Storm." Everytime I go to Bombay Talkie, my boyfriend and I will each have our own entrees, split a side of aloo gobi, and a side of naan. We have always left STUFFED and satisfied to say the least. The food is flavorful, inovative, and just enough to leave you feeling full, rather than on the verge of being sick. It is sad to think that exceptional restaurants such as this are getting misleading reviews like the ones below because people's perceptions of a normal serving size have come to be so skewed. Bombay Talkie is phenomenal and if the people below don't want to go, more table space for me! P.S. I have gone for dinner numerous times as both a walk-in and with reservations (around peek hours 7-8:30)-- Never have I had to wait more than 10 min.

The food and decor are great... as are the drinks. It's my favorite Indian restaurant in the city... the only drawback is that the portions are tiny, especially considering the prices. We often order in too.. and they skimp even more when you aren't in the restaurant.
